About the Job

At Danone, Manufacturing the best products and supplying them to meet demand is a key driver for our plant teams.ย  We are currently looking to hire a Maintenance Leader based in Mt. Crawford, Virginia! ย 

Key Responsibilities

As a key member of our team, you will play an important role in driving our mission forward. The following responsibilities outline the core expectations and contributions for this position:

  • Ensure the safety of all associates and our products
  • Attend and support all line meetings as part of the Daily Direction Setting (DDS) process
  • Work with Line Leaders and Process Engineers in the development and execution of Plan for the Day and loss elimination activities.ย 
  • Communicate metrics for maintenance and reliability activities.ย  Owns and drives improvement around planned and unplanned downtime, breakdowns, MTBF & MTTR metrics for their lines.ย 
  • Owns Breakdown Elimination, Defect Handling, & Planning and Scheduling. Coach teams through effective execution of these processes and builds capability and ownership of these systems down to the team level over time.ย ย ย ย ย 
  • Meet with each shift daily to review work completed and provide direction and follow up
  • Maintain maintenance schedules for owned lines and ensure adequate coverage in a consistent and equitable way that is consistent with the contract and state regulations
  • Create daily assignments for mechanics on each shift the support planned maintenance and loss elimination initiatives.ย  Focuses on engaging mechanics in proactive work that will improve line predictability/stability.ย 
  • Provides resourcing and support to line owned autonomous maintenance activities
  • Follow up on safety, quality and major losses with root cause analysis
  • Support off-shift critical work and emergency repairs where requiredย 
  • Identify gaps and roadblocks to successful execution of line maintenance plans and develop plans to close gaps
  • Monitor metrics, develop plans, and propose solutions for improvement
  • Participate in the annual budgeting process, support cost goals, and identify productivity opportunities
  • Support Planned Maintenance Pillar, System and Tools implementation
  • Support Systems and Equipment Ownership capability development
  • Lead and Support Early Equipment Management Activities, including possible startup leadership for projects within their area
  • Actively participate in Pillar activities (i.e. Quality, Focused Improvement, Safety, etc.) including but not limited to observations, inspections, and recommendations.
  • Own respective QMS standard and execute all processes, including all documentation specification requirements.

Physical Demands

  • While performing duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; stoop; kneel; crouch; crawl; taste and/or smell, talk and hear.
  • Ability to bend & stoop at waist level as well as bend & twist neck and head.
  • The employee must regularly endure repetitive minimal to moderate lifting 10lbs up to 50lbs and occasional team lifting above 50lbs. Requires normal range of hearing and vision (including colors) to record, prepare and communicate appropriate reports and results.
  • The employee is frequently standing on a concrete surface for 8-, 10- or 12-hour shifts
  • Occasionally may need to climb stairs, step ladders, stool.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • Ability to work up to 12-hour shifts.

Work Environment

  • Work is performed in a manufacturing environment with exposure to moderate noise and temperature variations.
  • Work schedules could include nights, weekends and/or holidays to provide the ability to support a 24/7 manufacturing environment as business needs dictate.

Ensure adherence to plant standards and procedures (including but not limited to GMP, AIB, FDA, IWS, Quality, Safety, Finance, ISO, HOPE, Danone Behaviors, Daily Direction Setting, Driving OE). As a fundamental piece of the organization, your responsibility is to participate and own the implementation and deployment of IWS system and its pillars (Leadership foundation, Daily Direction Setting, Driving OE; Autonomous Maintenance; planned Maintenance; Focused Improvement; Education and Training; Environmental, Health and Safety; Quality; Organization; Supply Network; Early Equipment Management) with the objective of owning your space, owning your performance (Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, Mobilization, Nature) and owning your continuous improvement.ย ย ย ย 

Compensation & Benefits:ย  ย 

The salary range for this position is: $90K to $105K per year.ย  The exact salary offered will depend on several factors, including the candidateโ€™s relevant experience, internal equity, and market conditions.ย  Danone U.S. additionally offers a performance-based bonus and has a strong benefits package including Medical, Dental, Vision, Prescription Drug Coverage, 401k Plan, Wellness Program, Life Insurance, Tuition Reimbursement, Flexible Time Off, and Paid Parental Bonding Leave, among other benefit plan options.

The ideal candidate will bring a combination of education, experience, and skills that enable them to excel in this position. The following qualifications outline what weโ€™re looking for, including both required and preferred criteria:

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree preferred, preferably in Engineering
  • 5 plus" years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education that would provide the level of knowledge, skill and ability required is acceptable
  • High School/GED required

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Understand TPM and continuous improvement methods
  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
  • Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of houses, buildings, or other structures
  • Computer literacy in programming and ladder logic
  • Knowledge of OSHA, local, state, and federal health and safety regulations
  • Ability to adjust schedule to support 24/7 Manufacturing Operation, may include working overtime, graveyard shift and/or weekends as needed.
