Elevate Your Career as a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist at Randall Children's Hospital

This position will serve under contract with Legacy Health System at Randall Children's Hospital. The individual will report to the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Joseph Professorship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Education Division Head for academic and professional development purposes and daily clinical activities will be led by designated Legacy/Randall leadership.

Function/Duties of Position

The OHSU Department of Psychiatry, Divison of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry is seeking a motivated and independent Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist/Consultation Liaison to help in growing our behavioral health team embedded at Legacy Randall Children's Hospital. The ideal candidate will work well in teams and understand the value of this exciting, forward-thinking collaboration between Oregon's two premier pediatric hospitals. 

The Division is a fully accredited training program seeking to deliver collaborative, high quality, compassionate, cost-effective service promoting education, research, and clinical leadership. Randall Children's Hospital (RCH) is one of two Children's Hospitals in the State of Oregon and is owned and operated by Legacy Health Systems.  RCH is dedicated to serving babies, children and teens from throughout the Pacific Northwest with specialists in nearly every area of pediatric care.  This position will involve joining two other child psychiatrists to deliver of Psychiatric assessment and treatment services in the Pediatric hospital and ED setting, recently established Bridge Clinic and outpatient psychiatric services and a planned Intensive Outpatient Program

At RCH, children and teens present with primary or secondary behavioral health conditions requiring expert assessment, stabilization and referral to appropriate levels of care from a Consultation and Liaison (C-L) perspective.   The Child Psychiatrist will lead (?) an interdisciplinary team interfacing with ED teams and inpatient pediatric teams as well as with providers in the Oregon continuum of care for children.  The Bridge Clinic supports youth transitioning to the community after assessment in the ED or on the pediatric units as well as occasionally serving youth with urgent needs identified in the Pediatric Medical Home. 

The IOP will serve youth with more intensive needs.  Psychiatric services are necessary but a limited element of this service

Overall psychiatric services to support General and Specialty clinics are expected to fill the remaining ambulatory FTE for this position.

These settings create opportunities for collaboration and interdisciplinary patient care with a focus on biopsychosocial approaches to complex patient evaluations and treatment planning.  Randall Children's will become a training site for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellows and other learners this year.  The Division of Child and Adolescent is a leader in supporting Oregon's efforts to improve the effectiveness of the continuum of care and there may be opportunities for advocacy at a local and state level.

We are seeking an experienced Board-Certified or Board Eligible (completing boards within 24 months of employment) Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist wishing to participate in this exciting opportunity. 

Required Qualifications
  • MD or DO board-certified or board eligible (complete w/in 24 months) in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
  • Licensed in the State of Oregon
  • Significantly experienced with CL child psychiatry or inpatient child psychiatry
