Job description

Permit Coordinator

Cannon Companies is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented professional to join our Outside Plant Engineering team as a Permit Coordinator. In this role, you'll be instrumental in preparing, submitting, and tracking Right-of-Way and utility permits with local jurisdictions. This position offers hands-on coordination with engineering, construction, and permitting authorities to ensure timely project execution.


Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain working relationships with local and regional permitting departments.
  • Review and interpret engineering plans to prepare and submit accurate permit applications.
  • Coordinate with engineering and construction teams to resolve permitting issues.
  • Monitor permit progress and communicate status updates internally and externally.
  • Ensure permits are submitted, tracked, and retrieved in alignment with project timelines.
  • Support various department goals and contribute to company success with minimal supervision.

Required Qualifications

  • 2-3 years' experience in Outside Plant (OSP) Engineering or Construction permitting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; ability to learn proprietary and cloud-based systems (e.g., Salesforce).
  • Strong communication, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment and meet strict deadlines.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Ability to read and interpret OSP plans and specifications.
  • Must pass a background check and drug screening.

Preferred Knowledge

  • Familiarity with Washington State permitting processes.
  • Understanding of trenching, boring, aerial work, and ROW applications.
  • General knowledge of fiber optic and copper plant construction.
  • Experience in telecommunications or utility construction industries.
  • Knowledge of permitting regulations, easements, and right-of-way guidelines.

This role is in person at our office located in Milton, WA.
