Position Summary:


We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Research Scientist.

 
We are seeking a highly motivated and accomplished Research Scientist to join our laboratory in the Department of Environmental Medicine at NYU Grossman School of Medicine. The successful candidate will conduct both independent and collaborative research investigating the molecular mechanisms of environmental carcinogenesis, with a particular focus on metal-induced lung cancer, oxidative stress, epigenetic regulation, metabolic reprogramming, the tumor microenvironment, and cancer prevention.


The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in molecular and cellular biology, toxicology, cancer biology, and animal models. This individual is expected to play a key role in advancing the laboratory's research program through high-impact publications, NIH grant applications, and the development of innovative research projects.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Design, plan, and execute independent research projects in molecular biology, toxicology, and cancer biology.
  • Investigate the molecular mechanisms underlying environmentally induced carcinogenesis using cell culture, organoid, and animal models.
  • Perform advanced molecular biology techniques, including:
    • Mammalian cell culture and primary cell isolation
    • CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing
    • Lentiviral and plasmid vector construction
    • qRT-PCR, Western blotting, immunoprecipitation, ELISA, and immunofluorescence
    • Flow cytometry and fluorescence-activated cell sorting (FACS)
    • RNA sequencing, single-cell RNA sequencing, and spatial transcriptomics
  • Conduct studies using mouse models of carcinogenesis and participate in experimental design, data analysis, and interpretation.
  • Analyze, interpret, and present research findings at laboratory meetings and national or international scientific conferences.
  • Prepare manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Contribute to the preparation of NIH and other extramural grant applications.
  • Maintain accurate laboratory records and ensure compliance with institutional biosafety, animal care, and research integrity regulations.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a MS degree and 2-4 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:


Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Molecular Biology, Toxicology, Cancer Biology, Environmental Health Sciences, Biochemistry, Cell Biology, or a closely related discipline.
Demonstrated expertise in molecular and cellular biology techniques.
Experience with mammalian cell culture and mouse models.
Strong experimental design, troubleshooting, and analytical skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a multidisciplinary research environment.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $58,500.00 - $73,364.20 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need.
