Certified Cancer Registrar, East Tennessee Cancer Registry
Full time, 72 Hours Per Pay Period, Day Shift
Position is home based but in person meetings are sometimes required.

In addition to the original downtown location, there are Covenant Health Cancer Center facilities in West Knoxville, Oak Ridge, Sevierville, and Morristown.
Position Summary:
The Certified Cancer Registrar should possess the technical knowledge and skills necessary to maintain the components of cancer-related data collections systems in a manner consistent with all requirements of the health care delivery system; medical, administrative, ethical, legal, and regulatory.

  • Attends meetings and serves on committees or teams as required
  • Completes patient care evaluation studies with survival data
  • Monitors quality assessment program
  • Cancer abstracting for Tennessee State Reporting System contracting facilities
  • Travel as necessary to contracting facilities
  • Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.Collection and preparation of registry statistics
  • Performs other duties as assigned by manager

Qualifications
Minimum Education:
None specified; however, must be sufficient to meet the standards for achievement of the below indicated license and/or certification as required by the issuing authority.
Minimum Experience:
Three (3) Years Cancer Registry Experience. Good computer skills, good communication skills, medical terminology and anatomy and physiology. Abstracting experience (at least one year) preferred.
Licensure Requirement:
Cert Tumor Registrar (CTUR) is required. Employee must have a valid Tennessee driver's license Class D and state mandated minimum insurance coverage. Driving record must meet Covenant Health minimum standards at the date of hire and throughout employment tenure.
