Job description

Overview
GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB:
Serving under the direction of the Director of Operations, assist with the logistics & maintenance services of the East Cleveland Corps Community Center. The Facilities Assistant will support and maintain the Mission of The Salvation Army and the Vision of the East Cleveland Corps, in accordance with all applicable internal & external policies and procedures.
20 Hours per week
Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
As directed by the Director of Operations:
  • General maintenance of all Salvation Army property including parking lot areas; General facility upkeep includes cleaning every area (offices, classrooms, bathrooms, etc.) of the building including interior and exterior of facility - regular floor care (vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, shampooing carpet, stripping & waxing) required
  • Maintain cleanliness of air vents & intakes
  • Small repairs and troubleshoot all mechanical systems; (Minor repairs include ceiling tile changing, stopping of leaks wherever required, equipment assembly & repair, etc.)
  • Ensure that rooms are heating & cooling as necessary, reporting any concerns to Director of Operations and/or Director of Operations
  • Receive deliveries; ensuring that they are securely packed and covered. After packing away delivered items in pantry and/or storage areas, make sure that all spills are swept and mopped.
  • Assist with food delivery, including verification of the contents of the delivery bill and unloading of goods as necessary
  • Maintain records of all in-kind donations, as necessary
  • Routine vehicle maintenance including cleaning (interior & exterior), fluid checks, etc., as assigned
  • Assist with inventory of cleaning supplies, purchasing under guidance of Corps Officers
  • Assist with exterior grounds (sidewalks, field, lawns, overall perimeter) maintenance including trash, snow and ice removal
  • Maintain cleanliness of interior and exterior trash cans
  • Driving of 12 passenger van and/or box truck is required for donation pickups and supporting of the Red Kettle Campaign
  • Assist with room setup & breakdown as necessary to facilitate operations

OCCASIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
As directed by the Director of Operations:
  • Assist with stocking shelves of all food items adhering to applicable health codes & practices
  • Participate in and support the implementation of special activities and event for the East Cleveland Corps.
  • Be prepared and willing to assist with the administration of seasonal programs including Christmas Toys & Kettles, Back-To-School, etc.
  • Any other duties as shall be required by the supervisor or Administration

Qualifications
MINIMUM EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
  • High School Diploma/GED with 1-2 years of related experience
  • Must have a valid driver's license with a clean driving record, that should be maintained throughout employment preferred
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to function in a fast-paced, frequently changing work environment with the ability to multi-task.
  • Must possess strong organization skills and be detail oriented.
  • Must possess a professional attitude and approach to problem-solving.
  • Must be able to relate well to all people and be a team player.
  • Must possess good communication skills.
