BASIC PURPOSE
OVERVIEW: To provide a complete waterfront program that contributes to fulfillment of the goals and objectives of Camp Del Oro, including swimming, pool maintenance and waterfront safety, while maintaining a program area that is safe and healthy. Cooperate with Program Director and Waterfront Director in planning and implementing the camp program
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Direct all waterfront activities in the pool and on the lake (if accessed) .
Initiate a strict water safety program in keeping with Red Cross, American Camping Association, and State of California requirements.
Maintain swimming pool, including the keeping of maintenance records .
Provide for the constant watch and supervision of campers and staff during swim sessions .
Plan and carry out special waterfront programs in harmony with the Camp Director .
Test and classify swimming abilities of staff and campers .
Utilize staff abilities to best advantage in carrying out the waterfront program and instruct counselors assigned to waterfront duties.
Enforce rules of the waterfront and help in camper discipline .
Daily: Clean and scrub deck, equipment and pool area. Vacuum pool as needed .
Prior to each swim session and at the end of each swim session, rr.ake sure all areas are clean and in order.
Report any maintenance concerns in a timely manner to maintain a clean and safe swimming area.
Know and be able to execute emergency procedures .
Attend and participate in evening programs and spiritual activities .
Assist with "break day" duties as scheduled .
Maintain a standard of cleanliness in personal grooming and in living quarters .
Assist with the clean up of the total camp at the end of each session and at the conclusion of the summer.
Assist with the camp brief at the end of the summer.
Assist the Program Director with other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS
1. Must be at least 18 years of age.
2. Must have general skills in working with children.
3. Preferred previous camping experience either as a camper or as a staff member.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis.
Ability to grasp, push, pull objects and tools.
Ability to lift up to 25 lbs
