As a Camp Counselor In Training (CIT), you'll typically assist lead counselors with daily activities, help supervise campers, and participate in planning recreational events. You'll also be expected to model positive behavior, support campers' needs, and sometimes lead small group activities under supervision. What are Camp Counselors In Training?

Camp Counselors In Training (CITs) are typically older campers or teenagers who are learning the skills needed to become full camp counselors in the future. They participate in specialized programs where they assist current counselors with activities, supervision, and camp operations while receiving guidance and mentorship. The CIT role is designed to help young people develop leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills in a supportive camp environment. This experience often serves as a stepping stone to future employment as a camp counselor or in other youth leadership roles.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Camp Counselor In Training, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Camp Counselor In Training, you need strong leadership potential, basic first aid knowledge, and a genuine enthusiasm for working with children, often supported by completion of a CIT program.
