Position Overview:
The Morgan Oliver School is seeking enthusiastic, responsible Assistant Camp Counselors to support our 2024 summer camp program for children ages 512. This role is ideal for teens (ages 1418) looking to gain hands-on experience in a vibrant, community-based camp setting. The position can be paid, unpaid, or hybrid, depending on age, experience, and school service-hour needs.
Assistant Counselors will help run creative, theme-based programmingranging from cooking and art to outdoor exploration and team-building games. Youll work closely with Lead Counselors to ensure campers are safe, engaged, and supported throughout each day.
Key Responsibilities:
- Activity Support: Assist in leading and managing group activities like crafts, cooking, games, and garden-based projects
- Camper Supervision: Help monitor small groups of children and ensure a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment
- Setup & Cleanup: Prepare materials and spaces for each activity and help clean up after sessions
- Positive Role Modeling: Practice and encourage kindness, responsibility, and cooperation among campers
- Team Collaboration: Work with Lead Counselors and fellow staff to keep each day running smoothly
- Flexibility: Step in where neededprepping snacks, soothing a tough moment, or helping with transitions
Ideal Candidates Will Be:
- Ages 1418, currently in high school or recent graduates
- Dependable, punctual, and ready to participate
- Comfortable working with children ages 512
- Curious, kind, and open to learning from experienced educators
- Available for a minimum of 4 consecutive weeks during the camp session
- Interested in education, child development, community service, or nonprofit work
Compensation & Benefits:
- Compensation is flexible and based on experience, availability, and school credit/service-hour requirements
