Job description

Enjoy a flexible schedule while you help kids learn and grow. Before and After Care, or BACPack is the school-age before and afterschool childcare program, managed and led by Bexley Recreation. BACPack Counselors supervise students and make sure they have fun and safe time before and after school.

As a Counselor, you'll supervise students while playing board games, doing art projects, and playing outside activities. Responsibilities Supervises children participating in the before and after school program Plans group activities, taking into account children's age groups and interests Educate students through games and explorations Resolve occasional disagreements between children and address behavioral issues Follows and enforces all safety rules Performs first aid of basic injuries as needed Keeps accurate incident logs Other duties as assigned Qualifications Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or GED required Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Must have or be willing to obtain Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)/First Aid certification Automated External Defibrillator (AED) certification preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.

Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to children, adults and other employees of the City. Mathematical Skills: Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.

Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance. Reasoning Ability: Ability to interpret and follow detailed but uncomplicated written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a limited number of distinct tasks and functions in standardized situations.

Interpersonal Skills: Must be pleasant with the public and have excellent communication skills. Must be reliable and punctual and maintain excellent attendance.. Must work effectively with a team and be able to organize and perform multiple responsibilities, sometimes simultaneously, in an accurate, efficient, and responsive manner; Must be able to adapt to unexpected changes in assignments or deadlines
