Job description

Position Summary:

Responsible for all food service related duties assigned by Food Service Director, including but not limited to, food preparation, serving, storage, and general handling. Also responsible for Dining Hall cleanliness. Ensures quality of program that focuses on youth development, including the YMCA core values: honesty, respect, responsibility, caring, and faith.

Essential Functions:

  1. Responsible for food preparation related to any and all meals and snacks
  2. Responsible for proper food storage and handling at all times
  3. Responsible for proper dish washing and sanitizing, including food preparation areas
  4. Adheres to program standards including safety and cleanliness standards.
  5. Maintains required program records.
  6. Makes sound decisions in alignment with YMCA and state standards.
  7. Acts as a role model to campers by exemplifying the YMCA's five core values.
  8. Maintains positive relations with campers, parents, camp personnel, and other staff.
  9. Attends and participates in family nights, program activities, staff meetings, and staff trainings.
  10. Reports suspicious and inappropriate behaviors and policy violations.
  11. Follows mandated abuse and incident reporting requirements.
  12. Meets timelines and deadlines related to supporting systems and employee compliance. Example includes but are not limited to Kronos Workforce Ready for review and approval of time sheets.
  13. Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
  1. High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  2. At least 18 years of age.
  3. CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse prevention trainings.
  4. Minimum one year previous experience working in food service environment.
  5. Ability to obtain Servsafe Certification within six months of employment
  6. Previous experience with diverse populations.
  7. Current record of tuberculosis examination and/or current local health department regulations, examinations, and/or immunization as required by the local or State Department of Health.
