Hiring - HVAC Conceptual Estimator

C&N Mechanical Services, LLC

Location: Hartford, CT,   Glastonbury, CT 06033

Hours: 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, Mon - Fri,  additional hours as needed

Pay: $90k - $110k,  based on skills and experience

 

Job Summary:

We are seeking an HVAC Conceptual Estimator to develop accurate, early-stage project estimates using limited information.  You will be applying your knowledge in mechanical systems, judgment and communication skills while supporting leadership, project teams and clients.  You will produce conceptual budgets with scope outlines and risk considerations that help guide decision-making before the detailed engineering begins. 

 

What you will do as HVAC Conceptual Estimator:

  • Create conceptual estimates for HVAC and mechanical projects using drawings, narratives, site walks, historical data, and engineering principles
  • Assess project feasibility by identifying scope gaps, assumptions, risks, and valueengineering opportunities
  • Collaborate with operations, engineering, and business development to align estimates with realworld installation practices and market conditions
  • Develop clear written deliverables including basisofestimate documents, scope summaries, and budget breakdowns
  • Participate in client and internal meetings to clarify intent, validate assumptions, and refine project direction
  • Maintain cost databases and benchmarking tools to improve accuracy and consistency across the platform
  • Support handoff to operations by communicating assumptions, constraints, and design intent once projects advance
  • Strong understanding of HVAC systems, mechanical equipment, and construction sequencing

 

What you will need:

  • 5+ years in HVAC/mechanical estimating, engineering, or field operations
  • Experience with conceptual estimating software or costmodeling tools
  • Experience in mechanical contracting, estimating, engineering, or project management
  • Familiar with designbuild, planandspec, and negotiated project delivery methods
  • Able to work across multiple divisions and support earlystage business development
  • Provide Judgment in ambiguous situations
  • Clear communication and documentation
  • Collaboration with field, engineering, and leadership teams
  • Curious about systems, costs, and constructability
  • Calm, steady presence when guiding early project conversations
