Job description

As aย Technician IIย for HDS/ย Engineering/Plastics,ย you will be responsible for conducting basic testing on plastics, pipes, fittings and other related plumbing products to specific standards and procedures.ย 

High school diploma/GED requiredย 

  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly motivated in completing assignments correctly and on schedule
  • Great attention to detailย 
  • Basic knowledge of PC/Windows software and Microsoft Office Suites (Excel, Word)
  • Understanding of basic tool use (wrenches, mallets, drills, saws, etc.)
  • Organized and able to work in a fast-paced environmentย 
  • Ability to work well independently and in a team environmentย 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate degree in scientific discipline and or Trade
  • Laboratory experience and/or college level laboratory coursework
  • Familiarity with measuring instruments (caliper, pi tape, ruler, micrometer, balance)ย 
  • Familiarity with plumbing products
  • Mechanical aptitude

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Light to heavy physical effort required
  • Perform basic laboratory work with minimal supervision after each training is completed
  • Maintaining/organizing assigned workload and meet specific due datesย 
  • Buildup and disassembly of pipe and fittings sizes "-20" OD
  • Assist senior staff with ongoing projects as neededย 
  • Receive continuous trainingsย 
  • Cross-train in other lab areas to alleviate the workload when high sample volumes are experienced.
  • Maintain a clean work environment and 6s areas
  • Assure adherence to all safety and health policies and procedures
  • Perform other duties as requested
