Job description

The Senior Business Partner, FP&A - Global Labs will serve as the primary financial partner to NSF's global lab directors, providing the financial planning, analysis, control and decision support needed to run the labs and ensure financial goals are established and executed. 
This role is as much about relationship-building and communication as it is about financial rigor. The person in this seat will be trusted to translate complex, multi-source data into clear stories that influence lab directors on their business decisions.

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
  • 5-8 years of progressive finance experience, including significant exposure to FP&A and business partnering.
  • Proven ability to build credibility and influence stakeholders across all organizational levels.
  • Strong experience translating complex financial information into clear, decision-ready presentations and visualizations. Experience in preparing presentations for business leaders
  • Meticulous attention to detail - ensuring accuracy of all published monthly reports and any requested ad-hoc reporting
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including modeling, large dataset analysis, and reporting automation.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-support capabilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must actively model all NSF core values and possess high ethical standards
  • Ability to meet hybrid Ann Arbor requirements (3 days/week in office)

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA with a focus in finance
  • Experience leading projects or cross-functional initiatives.
  • Experience with Oracle Financials, SAP, or similar ERP and consolidation systems.
  • Experience with financial planning and visualization tools such as Planful, Hubble, Power BI, or Tableau.
  • Exposure to M&A due diligence, valuation, or business case development.
  • Experience supporting technical, scientific, laboratory, engineering, or operational organizations.

Strategic Business Partnership

  • Serve as the trusted finance advisor to laboratory directors and operational leaders across global regions
  • Develop strong cross-functional relationships and influence decision-making through data-driven insights and recommendations
  • Collaborate with FP&A team members to consolidate storytelling to divisional and business unit leadership; responsible for concisely explaining variances to budget and forecast

    Financial Planning, Forecasting & Analysis

  • Own forecast, annual operating plan, and strategic plan reporting for the laboratories, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of all published data.
  • Support month-end close activities, including financial statement analysis, operational metric review, and expense reclassifications.
  • Develop financial models and business cases to support operational and strategic decision-making.
  • Collaborate with the General Ledger and Accounting teams to ensure financial accuracy and compliance.
  • Maintain and enhance laboratory cost allocation methodologies, ensuring appropriate allocation of shared costs across business divisions.
  • Support mergers, acquisitions, and investment evaluations through financial analysis and business case development.

    Management Reporting & Business Insights

  • Transform complex financial and operational data into concise, compelling business narratives for executive audiences.
  • Develop and maintain management dashboards, executive presentations, and performance reporting packages.
  • Present financial results, forecasts, and key business drivers to leadership teams with clarity and confidence.
