Position Summary

CAL Reception Attendant

Position Overview:

The Reception Student Staff will cover the CAL's tutoring center front desk reception tasks and assist in managing the testing center's scheduling calendar. This position plays an integral role in the quality of service in the tutoring center experience for the students within the UNM Gallup campus. The goal of this position is to serve as a welcoming point of contact to all students, faculty, staff, and visitors while contributing to the overall standard of excellence and customer service. Student staff will also provide assistance to the program manager and senior tutors to help with various administrative projects, perform general office work, assist in managing social media channels to include Facebook, Instagram and other relevant platforms, create digital information in Canva, assist with events, and learn the basic tasks of maintaining the CAL tutoring center. Student staff are provided with valuable work experience, projects, ongoing learning, and training with the full-time staff.

Duties and Responsibilities:

* Professionally answer phone and route calls to specific people including taking and relaying messages.

* Open and/or close the CAL department when necessary.

* Greet visitors warmly and make sure they are comfortable, direct them to an appropriate location and as applicable and notify staff and faculty of students.

* Experience with creating content media in various social media accounts.

* Experience with creating digital media information using Canva.

* Ensure closets, reception, kitchen, conference room, multi-purpose room and open space areas are tidy and organized and sanitized each day.

* Coordinate the scheduling of shared areas (study room, tutoring spaces, shared office, testing room and coworking space).

* Support staff by setting up and cleaning rooms and kitchenette (including coffee/food as needed) during events.

* Maintain inventory list of general program supplies and Instructional supplies operations.

* Assist staff by setting up meetings and training calendars and assist as needed during such training and meetings.

* Perform basic administrative and clerical duties as needed.

* Other task as mutually agreed but deemed necessary for the well-being of the organization.

* Attend all scheduled staff meetings and trainings.

* Microsoft Office Knowledge

* Canva Experience

* Social Media Management

* May begin work prior to the start of the academic semester and continue work after the semester.

* Be able to work University holiday period, such as Thanksgiving Break, Fall Break, Spring Break, and as needed, Winter and Summer breaks.

* May not work over 28 hours per week.

* Be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours each academic semester, excluding summer.

* Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher.
