The Archdiocese of St. Louis strives to teach and share our faith, serve others, and foster unity throughout the St. Louis area.  Once a part of Kenrick-Glennon Seminary's campus, the Cardinal Rigali Center in Shrewsbury, MO is today the headquarters and curia (governing body) for the Archdiocese of St. Louis.

Job Summary

The Cafeteria Aide assists with the daily operation of the school cafeteria by helping provide students with a clean, safe, orderly, and welcoming environment during meal times. The Cafeteria Aide supports food service operations, supervises students, maintains cleanliness, and promotes respectful behavior while supporting the Catholic mission and values of the school.

Job Responsibilities
  • Assist with the preparation and serving of student meals and snacks as directed.
  • Help set up and organize the cafeteria before meal service.
  • Assist students as needed during breakfast and/or lunch.
  • Monitor students during meal times and encourage appropriate table manners and respectful behavior.
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and school health procedures.
  • Maintain clean and sanitary tables, counters, serving areas, and floors.
  • Assist with washing dishes, utensils, trays, and other cafeteria equipment as assigned.
  • Restock food, supplies, utensils, napkins, and other necessary items.
  • Properly handle and dispose of food waste and trash.
  • Report spills, safety concerns, damaged equipment, or other problems to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Help ensure students follow cafeteria expectations and safety procedures.
  • Assist with student dismissal from the cafeteria and maintain an orderly transition back to class.
  • Protect student privacy and maintain confidentiality when appropriate.
  • Support a positive, respectful, and welcoming environment consistent with the school's Catholic values.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Cafeteria Manager or school administration.
Job Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous cafeteria, food service, childcare, or school experience is helpful but not required.
  • Ability to work well with children and school staff.
  • Dependable, friendly, patient, and responsible.
  • Ability to follow directions and established food-service and safety procedures.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a busy environment.
  • Commitment to supporting the Catholic mission and values of the school.
  • Must complete required background checks, child-safety training, and any required food-safety training.
