The Job:

As a Cost Engineer Manager, you'll be part of our Cost Engineering team working as a hybrid employee. You'll get to:

  • Working closely with Lead Category Managers (LCM) to build roadmapsforfuture product lines and components to be cost modeled
  • Execute and manage cost modelingbySBD cost modeling methods and outputs
  • Identifycost savings opportunities and strategies to be used by LCMs in leveraging supplier negotiations
  • Support development ofnegotiation strategiesusing fact-based arguments for use innegotiation decks
  • Lead team efforts to participate in VAVE events as a part of team's core competencies
  • Pursuecontinuous improvementsinthe costing ofsourced products/components andshare analytical resultswith sourcing managers
  • Train and educate relevant SBDstakeholdersinshould costmethodology and negotiations, withanemphasis ondevelopment oftechnical knowledge relevant tocost modeling
  • Utilize the costing tools likeapriori, DFMA,Cleansheetetc, in developing cost models and for cost analytics
  • Develop training modules that will educate SBU leaders andthe overall GSM team on cost modeling and its usefulness in supplier negotiations
  • Lead andupskillteam of cost engineers

The Person:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or other related technical field, preferably with a focus in Manufacturing / Mechanical Engineering
  • 5+ years engineering experience, preferably focused on the manufacturing and/or design of mechanical products (particularly with a Design for Manufacturability focus)
  • Experience working in the Global Supply Management Environment
  • Lean and quality experience
  • Strong understandingofvarious manufacturingtechnologiessuch as machining, injection molding,Packaging,die casting, forging,electronicsassembly, Wire harnessand stamping
  • Cost EstimatingKnowledge - Knowledgeable of typical sources and costs for common components
  • Ability to applytechnical knowledgetoward cost reductions (Productivity)in area of expertise
  • Ability to identify cost drivers and deep dive to prepare reports
  • Ability to work with multiple sources of data and assumptions, generate effectivecost options,andanalyze resulting cost modelsto test and refine estimates
  • Experience with Lean manufacturing and effects of manufacturing costs that are driven by product design
  • Experience in CAD and PLM (Product Lifecycle Management software)
  • Knowledge in sourcesofsupply and potential suppliersin various categories
  • Ability to challengesuppliercosting and work with sourcing team topursue cost gaps and search for opportunities

The Salary range for this position is $95,600.00 - $153,900.00
