Caterpillar's Resource Industries division is seeking a Testing and Validation Engineer to support the Electrification Engineering Test Team at our Tucson Proving Ground in Green Valley, AZ. The team is central to supporting testing and development for electric vehicles and charging (both stationary and mobile) solutions, helping to support Caterpillar customer's transition to a more sustainable future.

Your primary focus will be supporting the Cat® Dynamic Energy Transfer (DET), system. You will support testing, development and installation of our stationary infrastructure and collaborate with other engineers, ensuring proper system integration. You will also lead creating and enhancing safety procedures related to the system for future use at the Tucson Proving Ground and at customer sites.

What You Will Do:

Drive Safety & Quality: Make safety your top priority and champion continuous improvement in every aspect of electrification testing. Review and create job procedures for system testing, installation, and maintenance.

Lead Testing Projects: Plan and execute testing and development for current and next generation charging solutions.

Collaborate & Innovate: Work closely with on-site engineers, technicians, and operators to deliver projects on time and within budget. Create/enhancing validation plans with our external engineering teams.

Leverage Data: Use tools like Excel, Tableau, (Data Analysis Tool Kit) DATK, CANape and Microsoft Office to turn raw data into actionable insights.

Solve Complex Challenges: Apply your hands-on skills and technical knowledge to troubleshoot and validate a variety of complex electrical, electronic, and software systems.

Own the Process: Collaborate with extended engineering, software and technology teams, develop test plans, document standard work procedures, execute checkouts and validation activities, and analyze results.

Continuous Improvement: Document and share ideas to enhance safety, efficiency, product performance, and customer value.

What Skills You Will Have:

Technical Excellence: Experience in testing or validation within heavy equipment, automotive, or industrial machinery.

Product Testing: Experience designing and executing testing strategies. Experience with construction, forestry, mining or agricultural equipment is a plus.

Troubleshooting Technical Problems: Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues related to machine software and controls. Use tools such as CAT Electronic Technician, CANape, and Cadet for machine functionalit

Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Apply sound engineering judgment to analyze complex technical issues, evaluate test results, and develop effective solutions that support safety, quality, and product performance.

Effective Communication: Clearly communicate technical information, test results, and project updates to engineers, technicians, and stakeholders while collaborating across teams to ensure project success.

Education Requirement: Degree in an accredited Engineering, Computer Science, or related engineering or technology discipline.

Top Candidates Will Also Have:
  • Experience with design, operating, troubleshooting and improving Cat® Dynamic Energy Transfer or similar transfer solutions and methodologies

  • Experience with TCE, DATK, SuperComm 2, Cadet, Caterpillar Electronic Technician, CANape, and electrical troubleshooting

  • Experience with vehicle and integration software checkouts

  • Strong computer skills and ability to manage multiple software applications.

  • Background in product development, machine testing, mining, or electrical/electronic systems.

  • Ability to work on your feet for extended periods in varied environmental conditions (hot, dusty, windy, sunny, etc.)

  • Demonstrated expertise in agile adaption while still driving projects forward

  • Experience in training/upskilling others to help them grow

  • This position requires the candidate to work full-time at the Tucson Proving Ground in Green Valley, AZ.

$97,530.00 - $146,290.00
