Position Summary
Posting Note: Essential Functions
• Collects and processes three-dimensional kinematic, kinetic, electromyographic, plantar-pressure, video, temporal-spatial, wearable-sensor, and other functional movement data.
• Prepares equipment for testing in accordance with approved laboratory protocols.
• Monitors data quality during testing and repeats or modifies trials, within protocol, when data do not meet established acceptance criteria.
• Processes, reviews, and analyzes clinical and research data using approved biomechanical models, software, and standard operating procedures.
• Assists with initial biomechanical interpretation and prepares clear reports, figures, videos, and visualizations for multidisciplinary clinical review.
• Performs and documents routine calibration, quality-control testing, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting of motion-capture systems, force platforms, EMG, pressure systems, video, computers, and related equipment.
• Maintains equipment service records, software licenses, technical documentation, inventories, and coordination with Information Technology, Facilities, Biomedical Engineering, and equipment vendors.
• Develops, tests, documents, and maintains scripts and data-processing workflows using tools such as Python, MATLAB, R, Visual3D, and motion-capture software.
• Supports the validation of new equipment, software, biomechanical models, processing methods, and reporting tools prior to clinical implementation.
• Maintains accurate clinical and research data storage, archival, retrieval, backup, and confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and Phoenix Children's policies.
• Supports laboratory quality assurance, standard operating procedures, competency documentation, process improvement, and applicable accreditation activities.
• Participates in research and quality-improvement projects, including protocol development, data collection, analysis, abstracts, presentations, manuscripts, and grant-related activities.
• Provides technical orientation and education to staff, students, interns, volunteers, fellows, and visiting professionals.
• Maintains effective, professional relationships with patients, families, physicians, therapists, researchers, hospital departments, and community partners.
This position supports the day to day operations within the Motion Analysis Laboratory. Main duties include the calibration and operation of all laboratory equipment, patient data reduction, editing documentary video recordings, and management of patient data. Other duties may include maintenance and repair of equipment, working with students and volunteers, technical writing, and professional presentations.
Position Duties
  • Performs timely calibrations and operates all laboratory equipment efficiently.
  • Processes and analyzes laboratory measurement data in a timely manner per standard procedures in support of clinical and research programs.
  • Builds and maintains rapport with internal and external support sources, including, but not limited to, Phoenix Children's Information Technology and Facilities Management departments, as well as equipment/software suppliers.
  • Builds and maintains rapport within the department, hospital and community, professionally interacting with physicians, patients, families and hospital/community personnel.
    1. Preparation and participation in in-service training programs on a regular basis.
    2. Supervises and directs volunteers and/or students, providing input into their performance evaluations.
  • Assists in preparation of scientific manuscripts and presentations.
  • Performs miscellaneous job related duties as requested.
