Turning Point Community Programs is seeking a Certified Drug & Alcohol Counselor for our Sage Village program in Stockton. Turning Point Community Programs (TPCP) provides integrated, cost-effective mental health services, employment and housing for adults, children and their families that promote recovery, independence and self-sufficiency. GENERAL PURPOSE
Under the administrative supervision of the Program Director or designee, this position is responsible for providing psychosocial, rehabilitation and recovery-oriented services for adults.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
This is an at-will direct service position within a program. The position is responsible for
counseling and aiding clients and families requiring assistance dealing with substance abuse problems, such as alcohol or drug abuse. Functions as a Personal Service Coordinator for a case load of dually diagnosed clients.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - (ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY)
The duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that could be performed. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related or a logical assignment to this class.
  • Assists clients to identify and progress toward their chosen goals.
  • Advocates for clients in all areas of treatment and helps them apply for and receive services.
  • Provides prompt intervention in the event of a crisis both to stop the crisis and to notify, when indicated, persons and agencies necessary for the resolution of the situation.
  • Interviews clients, reviews records, and confers with other professionals.
  • Formulates program for treatment and rehabilitation of client, including facilitation of support groups.
  • Counsels clients individually and in group sessions to assist client in overcoming alcohol and drug dependency.
  • Counsels family members to assist family in dealing with and providing support for client.
  • Refers client to other support services as needed such as medical evaluation and treatment, social services, and employment services.
  • Monitors condition of client to evaluate success of therapy, and adapts treatment as needed.
  • Prepares and maintains reports and case histories.
  • Formulates and conducts programs to promote prevention of alcohol and drug abuse.
  • Safely transports clients and other passengers to and from appointments and activities and other program business relevant to position using own personal vehicle.
  • Provides support and training for other staff members as needed.
  • Adheres to and upholds the policies and procedures of Turning Point Community Programs.
  • Attends staff meetings unless approval for non-attendance is secured from Team Leader or Program Director.

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm
Compensation: $24.00 - $25.47 per hour

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS & LICENSES
Education, Training and Experience:
A typical way of obtaining the knowledge, skills and abilities outlined above is through the possession of a CADAC license and varied experience working with dually diagnosed adults (substance abuse and psychiatric disability).

  • Valid CADAC license
  • California driver's license & current vehicle insurance/registration if driving; and,
  • Reliable means of transportation capable of passing vehicle safety inspection if more than five years old excluding all modes of two-wheeled transport inclusive of bicycles, mopeds and motorcycles.
