In this role, you’ll partner closely with clinical and business leaders to design and deliver innovative analytics solutions, leveraging Epic tools (Reporting Workbench, SlicerDicer, Radar, Cogito) and non-Epic along with SQL and enterprise BI platforms.
 
You’ll build and optimize reports, dashboards, and data solutions; ensure data accuracy and reliability; and contribute to a growing analytics environment focused on collaboration, continuous improvement, and strong data stewardship.

Key Responsibilities:
  • At least 5 years Epic Cogito Caboodle custom development experience.
  • Certifications in Epic Cogito, Caboodle, Cogito Tools Admin highly desired, with verifiable build experience.
  • Demonstratable expert level SQL skills including windows functions in SQL. Adept at creating and maintaining SQL stored procedures, views, and queries to extract and report on Clarity and Caboodle datasets.
  • Experience with query tuning and optimization.
  • Excel at building, maintaining, and troubleshooting Reporting Workbench templates and reports, creating dynamic filtering, utilizing extensions and rules to drive reporting and dashboard content. 
  • Familiarity with Cognitive Computing Models and Predictive Analytics Models that are part of Epic’s suite of tools.
  • Experience troubleshooting missing data, Caboodle warnings and error logs, understanding backfill/resets, and investigating data lineage.
  • Develop custom Data Models, DMC’s, and Radar content using both Cogito SQL Templates and SQL based content.
  • Familiarity with Epic’s main application workflows (Ambulatory, Acute, OpTime, etc.).
  • Understanding of Nova and Epic Upgrades, completing notes as needed.
  • Conduct peer reviews and provide coaching on coding best practices.
  • Familiar with the entire report development life cycle, from requirements gathering to post-production support. 
  • Great communication skills are a must, in support of transparent dialogue with operational partners, regardless of technical acumen. 
  • Provide training and support to end users on BI tools and reports.
  • Partner with teammates to optimize queries, act as data stewards and SME’s for one another and the organization, and encourage cross team collaboration in support of all operational goals.
 
Job Summary 
Joins the Clinical Analytics team at EvergreenHealth and works collaboratively with key clinical and business leaders to develop data analysis solutions and visualizations to optimize organizational performance and to support strategic initiatives and planning.  Works closely with business stakeholders to gather requirements for and develop innovative and complex analytical solutions to support data-driven decision-making across the organization.
Primary Duties: 
  1. Configures and tests Epic-released and Foundation System content for all applications, including:
    1. Reporting Workbench
    2. SlicerDicer data models
    3. Radar dashboards
    4. Cogito SQL    
  2. Creates content to display Epic data from Chronicles, Clarity, and Caboodle.
  3. Writes SQL and configuring Radar settings for custom SQL metrics.
  4. Modifies existing reports, as necessary.
  5. Distributes analytics content to data consumers.
  6. Reviews peer reports for validity.
  7. Works with subject matter experts to understand the needs of data consumers.
  8. Maintains the Analytics Catalog and associated metadata records.
  9. Tests analytics build in a specified testing environment and volume testing in live environments.
  10. Reviews upgrade documentation related to Clarity and Caboodle features and determines how to implement the changes.
  11. Responsible for building and maintaining data cubes, data extracts, SlicerDicer custom filters, and any third-party BI tools.
  12. Works with business stakeholders across the organization to define ad-hoc and ongoing data and analytics requirements.
  13. Designs, develops, and maintains scalable, automated, user-friendly data solutions (views, queries, reports, visualizations, dashboards) to support the organization’s analytical and business needs.
  14. Develops and troubleshoots complex code for data retrieval and automated/scheduled data flows and processes.
  15. Use analytical and statistical knowledge and skills to solve complex problems and drive business decisions
  16. Create and maintain a positive and collaborative working environment
  17. Partner with teammates to complete peer reviews, optimize queries, act as data stewards and SME’s for one another and the organization, and encourages cross team collaboration in support of all operational goals.
  18. Provide training and support to end users on BI tools and reports
  19. Performs other duties as assigned. 
Required for this Position: 
  • Associate Degree in Computer Science, Business Systems, Health Information Management, or other related field, or equivalent education/experience.
  • 4 years of related experience. Education/training can be substituted.
  • Epic certification in area of support or certification within 3 months of hire 
  • Advanced knowledge of relational database design and analysis.
  • Experience working with and developing queries using SQL (or equivalent languages).
  • Experience building and supporting Business Intelligence solutions, including ETL development and data discovery.
  • Experience with data visualization tools like Tableau, Power BI, or similar BI tools and dashboard/scorecard development.
  • Ability to understand data structures that could benefit the entire data model.
  • Ability to present solutions to multidisciplinary teams and organizational leadership groups.
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, including ability to communicate complex technical issues to a non-technical audience.
  • Strong quantitative and analytic skills.
  • Proven attention to detail and ability to think creatively and work collaboratively in a rapidly-changing environment.
  • Ability to independently research and perform analysis to resolve complex issues
 Desired for this position:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Business Systems, Statistics, Health Information Management, or other related field, or equivalent education/experience.
  • Experience working with healthcare and financial data utilizing forecasting, predictive modeling, and/or machine learning applications.
  • Experience incorporating statistical methods into outcomes reporting.
  • Experience working with and incorporating multiple sources of data to answer complex financial and clinical questions.
  • Familiar with the entire report development life cycle, from requirements gathering to post-production support.    
  • Experience building and maintaining custom data models, SlicerDicer filters, Cogito SQL templates and custom SQL metrics.
