We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Substation Engineer to join our team at K&A Power Group in Oakbrook, IL. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on exciting and challenging projects that make a real impact in the energy and utility sectors. Role Expectations:

  • Detailed design of Electrical Engineering Includes conceptual design and detailed estimates
  • Substation Design Includes the creation of substation construction drawing packages, developing bill of materials and the procurement of minor materials
  • General arrangement/ physical and electrical layout, electrical equipment plans, elevation & section views (including transformers, bus work, etc.)
  • Equipment cable trays, cable design, conduit fill calculations
  • Rigid bus calculations
  • System Protection & Control (SP&C) Design includes the creation of SP&C construction drawing packages and the procurement of materials
  • Drawings in specified formats shall include elementary diagrams, relay one-line diagrams, connection diagrams, panel layout diagrams, and circuit schedules. Materials shall include relays, communication and monitoring systems, panel meters, control house panels, cables and associated wiring materials.

  • Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) from an accredited university
  • 5-10 Years of professional experience within substation design for electrical utilities
  • Experience and or knowledge with power analysis software is ideal (i.e. SKM, Etap, EasyPower, etc.)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Project, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Must be able to report to the office and visit worksites as needed

Pay Range $90,000-145,000/year
