The hiring rate for this position is $22.00 per hour.

POSITION SUMMARY
The Lead Server is responsible for ensuring all guests receive a positive experience. The Lead Server will oversee all service aspects of The Tavern while maintaining high service standards and providing courteous and timely customer service.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Trains and guides servers (student employees and non-student employees) on job duties and customer service. Oversees completion of tasks by servers. Provides feedback concerning staff performance and development.
  • Maintains the schedule for all servers.
  • Oversees service staff during set-up, service and clean-up to ensure a superior guest experience. Following Culinary Institute of America ("CIA") procedures/guidelines on set-up and organization.
  • Greets and serves all guests. Maintains the CIA service guidelines for professional service. Maintains a positive attitude towards guests, co-workers and students.
  • Provides fast and efficient service to guests while maintaining excellent customer service.
  • Performs all server duties for beverage and food service. Takes orders and closes checks.
  • Responsible for recording and reporting all food and beverage sales.
  • Places orders in Eatec for all Front of the House needs.
  • Maintains menu identification information.
  • Assists with planning and executing the sequence and timing of dining room service.
  • Ensures proper closing of The Tavern at the end of the shift.
  • Ensures service area and dining room is maintained including replenishment of products and cleanliness.
  • Communicates and ensures that all dietary restrictions/allergies are notified to the Assistant Restaurant Manager - Back of House.
  • Assists American Bounty dining room staff with seating guests, answering phones and other duties.
  • Maintains a strong food and beverage knowledge base in an effort to provide the best possible guest service experience.
  • Operates OpenTable reservation system.
  • Any and all other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

Experience:
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience in Front of House dining room service.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Knowledge of OpenTable Reservation System.
  • Knowledge of MICROS POS System.

REQUIRED SKILLS
  • Knowledge of food, including menu language & culinary preparations. Maintains a strong food and beverage knowledge base in an effort to provide the best possible guest service experience.
  • Working knowledge of restaurant POS computer systems.
  • Demonstrated qualities of hospitality.
  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills; ability to be adaptable, dependable and handle multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated ability to show a high level of service responsiveness to customers.
  • Must display a high level of energy and self-motivation.
  • Highly organized, attentive to detail, accurate and efficient.

WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Must be available to work nights and weekends as required due to business needs.
  • Must be able to work overtime on nights and weekends as required by business needs.
  • Ability to frequently lift and carry 30 pounds.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and carry 50 pounds with assistance.
  • Ability to stand and work for extended periods of time during customary service hours.
