Summary

Summary

Fire Creek Services Company (FCSC) on behalf of Sweetwater Cafe is seeking a full-time Cafe Manager. The Cafe Manager is responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations of the cafe, working in a supervisory role overseeing food operations, monitoring productivity, and providing feedback to ensure employees are providing the best experience possible to the customers. The position is based in Blackstone, VA at the U.S. Department of State, Foreign Affairs Security Training Center (FASTC).

Essential Functions

  • Oversee daily cafe operations, including opening and closing procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with all contract deliverables.
  • Manage inventory, order supplies and monitor the COGs.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise cafe staff.
  • Coach and mentor under-performing staff to improve their skills and report all personnel issues.
  • Ensure all team members are fully trained and adhere to all food handling and safety guidelines.
  • Ensure customers' needs are met, resolve complaints, and customer service is the focus of each employee.
  • Implement strategies to improve customer service and meet the unique needs of the FASTC community.
  • Accurately complete administrative paperwork as required by the company and contract.
  • Maintain a favorable working relationship with all employees to promote cooperative and harmonious working environment to facilitate positive employee morale, productivity, and continued improvement.
  • Perform duties of subordinates, as needed.
  • Perform all other job-related duties as assigned.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • Frequently lift or move objects up to 10 pounds.
  • Occasionally lift or move objects up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time must be able to push and pull up to 40 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be able to work indoor conditions 90% of the time. 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. 

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Core Monday through Friday schedule with occasional evening or weekend hours as job duties demand.

Travel

Manager may be required to travel locally to procure goods as needed.

Experience

  • Minimum Ten (10) or more years of relevant experience in the food service industry
  • Minimum Five (5) years of management experience in food service

Education

High School Diploma required.  Associates degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school desired.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

  • Demonstrated knowledge of food service operations, food handling and safety regulations in compliance with industry regulations and best practices.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Excellent stress management and ability to maintain composure.
  • Ability to prioritize workload, solve problems quickly and interact with others to achieve efficient, seamless workflow.
  • Experience serving large groups or events preferred.
  • Experience working in a government setting preferred.
  • Experience with government contracts preferred.

None required.  Must pass NCIC background check.
