What are C10 jobs?

C10 refers to a high-level executive job title, usually denoting a 'Chief' officer within an organization, such as Chief Information Officer (CIO) or Chief Financial Officer (CFO). The term 'C10' is sometimes used to describe any of the top 10 executive positions in a company, collectively known as the C-suite. These roles are responsible for setting company strategy, managing large teams, and ensuring the organization meets its goals. C10 executives typically report directly to the CEO or the board of directors and play a key role in leadership and decision-making.

What is the difference between C10 vs Electrician?

AspectC10Electrician
Required CredentialsApprenticeship, certification in electrical workApprenticeship, licensing, certification
Work EnvironmentConstruction sites, industrial settingsResidential, commercial, industrial buildings
Industry UsageElectrical installation and maintenanceElectrical wiring, repairs, installations

The C10 certification typically refers to a specific electrical classification or license, often used in construction and industrial settings, requiring similar credentials as electricians. While C10 workers focus on electrical tasks, electricians have broader responsibilities including troubleshooting and complex wiring. Both roles are essential in electrical projects, but electricians usually have more extensive training and licensing. Understanding these differences helps employers and workers choose the right credential for their specific electrical work needs.

What types of projects and teams do C10 professionals typically work with, and how does cross-functional collaboration play a role in daily responsibilities?

C10 professionals are often involved in high-level strategic projects that require coordination across various departments such as finance, operations, and IT. They typically work in multidisciplinary teams, acting as key decision-makers who ensure that initiatives align with organizational goals. Cross-functional collaboration is essential, as C10 roles frequently involve leading meetings, setting priorities, and mediating between different stakeholder interests. This environment offers exposure to diverse business challenges and provides opportunities for leadership development and career advancement within the organization.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a C10 Manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a C10 Manager (such as at Citi, referring to a Vice President level), you need strong leadership, analytical thinking, and in-depth knowledge of your industry, typically supported by a relevant degree and significant managerial experience. Familiarity with risk management systems, advanced data analytics tools, and financial reporting platforms is commonly required. Standout candidates also demonstrate strategic communication, adaptability, and the ability to motivate diverse teams. These skills are critical for driving business results, managing risks, and leading complex projects in a dynamic corporate environment.

AI Nexus - Advisory Board Member
Department: Studio
Employment Type: Part Time
Location: New York City
Description
Location: New York City (Hybrid / Flexible)
Commitment: Voluntary Advisory Role (Not Employment or Consulting)
C10 Labs is a venture studio and fund focused on building and backing AI-driven startups addressing critical challenges across healthcare, energy, industrial systems, and scientific discovery. Headquartered in Kendall Square, Cambridge (MIT), our team partners with exceptional founders at the earliest stages-combining deep technical expertise with hands-on operational support to accelerate company creation and scale.
As part of its New York City expansion, C10 Labs-together with public and private partners-is launching AI Nexus, a platform designed to connect applied AI practitioners, industry leaders, founders, investors, and research institutions to advance real-world deployment of AI and strengthen New York City's innovation economy.
To support this mission, we are forming a select AI Nexus Advisory Board composed of senior leaders who wish to contribute their experience and perspective in a voluntary advisory capacity.
Press Release
Role Overview
AI Nexus Advisory Board Members serve as trusted advisors to C10 Labs leadership and the NYC EDC AI Nexus platform, providing strategic perspective, ecosystem insight, and thought leadership to shape the direction and impact of our New York initiatives.
This is a part-time, high-impact advisory role designed for senior AI leaders who are deeply connected to the New York innovation ecosystem and passionate about advancing applied AI - while maintaining their primary professional responsibilities.
Advisory Board Members play a critical role in strengthening C10's network, informing investment and studio strategy, and elevating our external voice in the AI community.
Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Advisory: Provide guidance on AI trends, market opportunities, and emerging technologies relevant to C10 Labs' focus areas.
  • Ecosystem Engagement: Leverage deep relationships across the NYC AI, startup, enterprise, and academic ecosystems to strengthen C10's network and visibility.
  • Founder & Company Support: Offer insight, mentorship, and strategic perspective to founders within the C10 venture studio and cohort programs.
  • Thought Leadership: Help shape C10's external narrative through participation in events, roundtables, and selective content or speaking opportunities.
  • Program & Platform Input: Advise on the evolution of the AI Nexus platform, including programming, partnerships, and community activation.

Ideal Candidate Profile
Technical depth is welcome but not required for all advisory roles; industry and market leadership experience are equally valued. We welcome leaders from diverse professional and personal backgrounds who reflect the breadth of New York's innovation economy.
We are seeking individuals who bring a combination of technical depth, leadership credibility, and ecosystem influence, including:
  • Experience building, scaling, or advising applied AI or data-driven product platforms
  • Cross-functional operating backgrounds across product, strategy, growth, partnerships, or AI leadership
  • Industry experience in sectors such as healthcare, financial services, energy, industrial systems, or enterprise software
  • Active engagement in the New York City innovation, enterprise, or investment ecosystem
  • Interest in shaping the next generation of applied AI companies and talent
  • Senior leaders, founders, executives, or investors with a strong AI background (applied AI, ML, data, or AI-enabled products).
  • Deep, active ties to the New York City technology and innovation ecosystem.
  • Experience building, scaling, or advising AI-driven companies or platforms.
  • A strategic mindset with the ability to connect technical innovation to real-world impact.
  • Interest in shaping the next generation of AI startups and leaders.
  • One Quarterly AI Nexus Board meeting, hybrid
  • Advisory role with flexible engagement.
  • Participation in periodic advisory sessions, speaking opportunities, ecosystem activities, and selective programming.
  • Opportunity to engage more deeply based on interest and mutual alignment.
  • Help shape New York City's applied AI ecosystem and industry adoption pathways
  • Support founders and technical teams building real-world AI solutions
  • Engage with a nationally connected venture studio rooted in the MIT innovation ecosystem
  • Contribute to visible, high-quality thought leadership in applied AI
