Job description

Overview

The Senior Buyer is responsible for managing complex purchasing activities, supplier relationships, and operational procurement execution to ensure continuity of supply, cost management, and policy compliance. This role operates with increased autonomy and serves as a subject matter resource to internal stakeholders and junior buyers.

The Senior Buyer manages higher risk or higher value purchases, supports sourcing initiatives, and plays a key role in supplier performance management and issue resolution.

Responsibility
  • Manage endtoend purchasing of assigned categories, suppliers, or business units

  • Create and maintain accurate purchase orders and ensure ontime delivery

  • Ensure continuity of supply through issue resolution, expediting, and demand changes

  • Own daytoday supplier relationships and manage performance (delivery, quality, service)

  • Lead supplier issue resolution and support performance reviews

  • Negotiate pricing, lead times, and commercial terms within authority

  • Identify cost savings, cost avoidance, and efficiency opportunities

  • Ensure compliance with contracts, procurement policies, and approval thresholds

  • Act as a trusted procurement advisor to internal stakeholders

  • Support sourcing initiatives, process improvements, and mentoring of buyers

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience

  • 5 years of experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain roles

  • Strong understanding of procurement best practices, contracts, and commercial terms

  • Proven negotiation, supplier management, and issueresolution skills

  • Experience working in ERP and/or eprocurement systems, with proficiency in Excel and reporting or analytics tools

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities independently with sound judgment

  • Strong analytical, problemsolving, and decisionmaking capabilities

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills for stakeholder and supplier engagement

  • Professional procurement certification (ISM, CIPS, APICS) or progress toward certification (preferred)

Physical Requirements

Lifting Requirements - sedentary work or exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally. Physical Requirements - stationary positioning, moving, operating, ascending/descending, communicating, observing, pushing, or pulling, and reaching. Use of equipment and tools necessary to perform essential job functions.
