About the Opportunity:

Manage the shift manufacturing operations for a precision machining facility. Supervise and plan work for assigned employees to optimize equipment for maximum productivity. Drive all operational activities to achieve on-time delivery while meeting all quality assurance requirements. Manage team members by establishing effective lines of communication. Provide change leadership within the business.

Location: South Windsor, CT
This position is 100% on site.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and coordinate work of assigned employees including the appropriate management of time while prioritizing the manufacturing of parts and the utilization of equipment
  • Maintain product quality and adhere to all quality standards established by both customer requirements and the internal quality system. Improve processes using continuous improvement and Kaizen principles
  • Share knowledge willingly and mentor employees
  • Maintain a neat and orderly work area
  • Plan, commit, and execute area to meet or exceed weekly, monthly, yearly shipping targets
  • Coach, guide, manage, mentor employees to promote positive employee relations
  • Promote and demand a safe work environment, adhering to all company policies and procedures and drive adherence to policy and procedure with indirect and direct staff
  • Collaborate with business unit leaders, engineers, materials, quality control and assigned team members at all levels of the business.
  • Communicate with leadership, planning, other production employees on a continuous basis on all matters that may impact productivity or on-time delivery including shift hand-off needs
  • Hire and develop team members that can effectively meet business goals and customer demands
  • Facilitate on-the-job training and cross training through work assignments and use of mentoring to provide learning opportunities and maximum use of equipment
  • Lead and participate in kaizen and continuous improvement workshops within the site and across Pursuit where feasible
  • Review purchase requests, submit to manager for approval
  • Hire and develop team members that can effectively meet business goals and customer demands
  • Provide regular performance feedback to assigned employees and complete performance reviews
  • Other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3 years manufacturing supervision or leadership experience
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis without sponsorship now or in the future. The Company cannot offer employment to visa holders who require employer sponsorship in the future or cannot work now on a full-time basis.
  • Must be able to perform work subject to ITAR/EAR regulations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related filed
  • 5 years manufacturing supervision or leadership experience
  • Experience manufacturing parts to demanding quality requirements and specifications
  • Experience manufacturing tubes or running/ maintenance of waterjets
  • Ability to manage across multiple levels of the organization and lead efforts when needed

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires mobility in a manufacturing plant environment while using Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Must be able to frequently sit, stand and walk.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 15 pounds.
  • Personal protective equipment (e.g., safety glasses and safety shoes) is required on the shop floor
  • Occasional weekend and evening work may be required to accommodate priorities, deadlines, and schedules.
