What is a Business Technology Solutions Associate?

A Business Technology Solutions Associate is a professional who helps organizations improve their business processes through the implementation and optimization of technology solutions. They often work with clients to analyze business needs, recommend appropriate technological tools, and support the integration of new systems. Their role typically involves collaboration with both technical and business teams to ensure that solutions align with company goals. Responsibilities may include project management, data analysis, process improvement, and user training. This role is common in consulting firms and organizations undergoing digital transformation.

What are some common challenges faced by a Business Technology Solutions Associate when working on cross-functional projects?

Business Technology Solutions Associates often collaborate with teams from IT, operations, and business units, which can present challenges such as aligning diverse priorities, managing communication gaps, and balancing technical requirements with business objectives. Navigating these complexities requires strong interpersonal skills, adaptability, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. Developing a clear understanding of each stakeholder's goals and maintaining open lines of communication can help Associates effectively bridge the gap between technical and business teams.

Familiarity with enterprise software (like SAP, Salesforce), data analysis tools, and project management methodologies or certifications (such as Agile or PMP) is often required. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills help you bridge the gap between business and technical stakeholders. These skills are essential to deliver effective technology solutions that align with organizational goals and drive business value.

When you join HOFFMANN EITLE, you become part of a firm that values not only professional excellence but also personal growth and community. We foster a supportive environment where your talents and ambitions can thrive, offering ample opportunities for career development. If you are passionate about intellectual property law and ready to make an impact in a collaborative and innovative setting, we invite you to help shape the future of intellectual property protection as part of our trusted and dynamic team of over 450 employees.

In the comprehensive support of global clients, our international team is looking forward to welcoming you as a reinforcement for the Organization and Procurement department.

Your Tasks

You will work in the IT department of a patent law firm with approximately 450 employees across several European locations. An external IT service provider is responsible for the operational delivery of IT services, including the Service Desk, Microsoft 365/Workplace, Network, and Asset Management. These services are governed by an internal Service Manager. In this role, you will bridge the gap between day-to-day IT operations and strategic IT governance. Reporting directly to the Head of IT, you will provide the technical expertise required to develop sustainable and future-proof IT solutions.

  • Further develop the IT service portfolio in close collaboration with the internal Service Manager.
  • Provide technical oversight and quality assurance for the services delivered by the external IT service provider, including Microsoft 365, Network, Workplace, and Asset Management.
  • Analyze business requirements and design, implement, and maintain sustainable technical solutions.

Standards & Projects
  • Develop technical standards, documentation, and automation solutions.
  • Contribute to IT projects, including rollouts, migrations, and office/site expansions.
Your Qualifications

You work in a structured and solution-oriented manner with a strong commitment to quality. For you, a task is only complete once you have identified the root cause, implemented a sustainable solution, and documented it in a clear and traceable way. You continuously look for opportunities to standardise or automate recurring tasks to improve efficiency.

Professional Qualifications
  • Strong expertise in Microsoft 365 and Azure, including Entra ID, Exchange Online, Intune, Azure IaaS/PaaS, and Security & Compliance.
  • Hands‑on experience administering virtualised server environments using VMware vSphere and/or Hyper‑V.
  • Solid knowledge of networking technologies, including switching, routing, firewalls, VPN, DNS, and DHCP.
  • Experience operating or managing SaaS applications.
  • Excellent English communication skills for collaborating with international locations.
Personal Competencies
  • Strong analytical and solution-oriented mindset with the ability to work independently.
  • Well‑organised and reliable, with a proven ability to complete tasks successfully.
  • Broad understanding of IT technologies and the ability to quickly learn new topics.
  • Confident and professional communication skills when working with internal stakeholders, external service providers, and senior management.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of physical data centre infrastructure, such as UPS systems, emergency power supply, or cooling systems.
  • Experience working in a law firm or a professional services environment.

The position is initially offered on a fixed‑term basis for two years.
