Job description

The Program Manager, Business Systems is responsible for coordinating, aligning, and enabling delivery of enterprise business systems initiatives, including product selection software, configurator platforms, PLM systems, and related digital tools.

This role does not own the product or solution roadmap. Instead, the Program Manager ensures roadmap execution, delivery coordination, dependency management, and alignment across teams and stakeholders to achieve committed outcomes. Operating within a SAFe-aligned environment, the role supports predictable execution, transparency, and continuous improvement across business systems value streams.

In addition to annual/quarterly initiatives, the key accountabilities of this position are:

Program Execution & Flow

  • Enable reliable delivery of business systems roadmap commitments by coordinating execution across multiple teams
  • Manage cross-team dependencies, risks, and constraints, ensuring timely escalation and resolution
  • Support optimized flow of work through facilitation of SAFe, Agile, and Lean practices aligned to Armstrong internal processes
  • Act as a delivery integrator across engineering, IT, product management, and business stakeholders

Planning & Alignment

  • Support Program Increment (PI) and iteration planning to ensure teams are prepared and aligned to roadmap priorities
  • Maintain visibility of objectives, milestones, and delivery progress across business systems initiatives
  • Coordinate and communicate planning calendars, ceremonies, and delivery events across teams
  • Facilitate estimation, capacity discussions, and trade-off conversations to support economic decision-making at the program and portfolio level

Tracking, Measurement & Continuous Improvement

  • Track execution of features, capabilities, and system outcomes against committed plans
  • Monitor delivery predictability, dependency health, and execution risks across PIs
  • Support definition and tracking of Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) for business systems programs
  • Facilitate Inspect & Adapt activities and drive continuous improvement actions
  • Ensure alignment and effective communication across team-level and multi-team ceremonies

Strategy Execution & Stakeholder Alignment

  • Facilitate program-level agile ceremonies (e.g., PI Planning, Scrum of Scrums, System Demos, Inspect & Adapt)
  • Partner with Armstrong value streams and all other stakeholders to ensure execution aligns with approved strategy and roadmap intent
  • Participate in portfolio-level forums to ensure alignment, transparency, and informed decision-making
  • Serve as a primary coordination point for business system initiatives across functional and regional boundaries

Role Requirements

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science or other engineering disciplines with related experience
  • 3–5+ years of program management or delivery leadership experience in an industrial, manufacturing, or enterprise systems environment
  • Experience delivering enterprise business systems such as PLM, product configurators, selection tools, or integrated commercial/engineering platforms

Agile & SAFe

  • SAFe Release Train Engineer (RTE) certification preferred or equivalent experience leading large-scale Agile delivery
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Agile, Lean, and SAFe practices, including PI execution, dependency management, and flow optimization

Leadership & Execution

  • Strong facilitation and coordination skills across engineering, IT, finance, manufacturing, and commercial teams
  • Ability to manage complexity, ambiguity, and change in multi-team environments
  • Outcome-focused with a bias toward execution and delivery predictability

Personal Attributes

  • Self-directed and accountable, with the ability to work autonomously and collaboratively
  • Clear, professional communicator capable of engaging stakeholders at all levels
  • Continuous improvement mindset with a focus on learning, transparency, and results
