Job description

Position Summary
The successful candidate will lead and identify projects for process improvements and support process and cultural improvement initiatives within the Operational Excellence (OpEx) platform. Able to lead multiple projects utilizing the Lean, TPM, and Six-Sigma tool sets. This individual will support the site by providing analytic analysis and ability to support others in problem solving utilizing the DMAIC methodology. The ideal candidate will be a strong communicator, work well alone and with a team, and have a passion to drive key business results utilizing OpEx toolset. With support they will be able to conduct all activities above and make decisions that are in accordance with Company policies & SOPs, Zoetis Values, & global regulatory guidelines (including cGMP/cGLP/cGCP), environmental guidelines, as appropriate, etc.
Position Responsibilities
  • Lead or support projects pertaining to cost reduction/avoidance, process stability and technology transfer. As project lead this colleague will be able to develop and execute plans working with a team to gain and sustain improvements.
  • Support the site with data analysis for the strategy deployment cycle and other initiatives as needed.
  • As part of the OpEx Team this individual will lead or support capability building of our colleagues in lean six sigma tools. The colleague will develop OpEx content with guidance as needed.
  • Once qualified this individual will coach and mentor Yellow Belt & Green Belt colleagues in conjunction with Zoetis Production System.
  • Ability to work with colleagues across the site to capture improvements and build capability within Charles City Team.
  • Complete Green Belt projects as assigned. Deliver annual savings for the site through improvement projects to meet annual goals.
  • This person will work with Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and others to drive cost and process improvement projects. They will partner with finance to assign accurate project savings upon completion of projects.
  • Responsible for delivering assigned cost improvement projects, work with the site to drive key performance indicators to meet the site goals.
  • Ability to prioritize and effectively run multiple projects at once.
Education and Experience
  • 4-year STEM degree is required.
  • BS/BSE with Engineering or Biologics is strongly preferred.
  • Must have strong technical/analytical skills and possess a high degree of personal motivation.
  • Working knowledge of Six Sigma, Lean, and TPM strongly preferred.
Technical Skills Requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, influence, and motivate colleagues to meet defined objectives.
  • Six Sigma Certifications preferred or ability to complete Green Belt certification within the first 2 years of employment.
  • Laboratory and/or manufacturing experience in biological testing and/or manufacturing is preferred.
  • Experience in GLP or GMP and biologics regulatory is preferred.
  • Strong technical/analytical skills and possess a high degree of personal motivation.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact across divisional boundaries.
Physical Position Requirements
  • Able to become qualified to enter clean room environments.
  • Physical Demands Include: Sitting, Walking, Standing, Writing, Typing, Talking, Hearing, Seeing, and Lifting.
  • Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works in environments with extreme temperature (hot /cold) & humidity, with limited lighting and in crowded spaces. The noise of these work environments are typical office noises.
