WSP is currently initiating a search for a Transportation Director/Local Business Line Lead for our San Antonio, TX office. The candidate will play a key strategic leadership role in Texas as we continue to strengthen and expand our Transportation practice.  WSP is playing a critical role in the growth and development of South and Central Texas, specifically with key public agencies, Texas Department of Transportation, Alamo Area MPO, VIA, Bexar County, Alamo RMA, City of San Antonio, City of New Braunfels and others.  This role will also serve as a leader to leverage cross collaboration with Property and Buildings, Energy, Water, Federal, Advisory Services, and PMCM to bring value to our clients.

• Optimizes the client and employee experience through regular review and implement process improvements
• Focuses on innovation and enhancing health & safety, quality and sustainable standards
• Develops local growth, forecast and business development strategy in collaboration with Local, Regional and National Business Line Leaders
• Resolves conflict and other internal/external issues that may arise in the office, amongst WSP's client base, or on projects
• Collaborate with regional, district leaders and other area leaders to strategically drive the business, manage project performance, oversee overhead expenditures, and meet operational financial metrics

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
• Minimum of 15 years of experience in transportation engineering or equivalent experience in the A/E/C industry with a strong focus in transportation infrastructure
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in the State of Texas  
• Experience in the design and project management of transportation infrastructure projects (highways, collectors, arterials, local roads, bike and pedestrian shared use paths, etc.)
• Demonstrated goal-oriented experience of leadership, personal accountability, and persistence
• Effective communication with team members and stakeholders to ensure project objectives are met
• Proven experience in professional communication, including presentations, written reports, and group facilitation
• Ability to innovate and re-think the conventional approach to client and employee engagement
• Strong business acumen with an aptitude for improving processes
• Sound decision-making, strategic and visionary thinking, and creative business development capabilities across a multi-disciplined practice
• Strongly established relevant client relationships and industry contacts in the local area
• Commitment to internal and external client service
• Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
• Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
