Position Summary

OHS is hiring a Business Development Representative to help drive pipeline growth and create new partnership opportunities in a highly visible, career-building role. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated seller who enjoys prospecting, opening doors, and building relationships in a dynamic B2B environment. No utility or government experience is required. We welcome candidates from a range of business development, sales, recruiting, account management, and other customer-facing backgrounds who bring curiosity, resilience, and strong communication skills.

In this role, you’ll partner closely with senior business development leaders, develop consultative selling skills, and help support long-term revenue growth by identifying and engaging high-potential partners.

Located at our office in Naperville, our office environment is a key driver of our company culture and employee experience, so a regular in-office hybrid model (T-TH in office and M & F remote) is required.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Own outbound prospecting efforts across a defined account list, identifying and engaging prospective partners through thoughtful, targeted outreach.

  • Schedule qualified meetings for Business Development Directors and provide clear context to support productive follow-up discussions.
  • Maintain accurate records of outreach activity, engagement, and pipeline progression in CRM systems such as Salesforce.
  • Collaborate closely with Business Development Directors on account strategy, opportunity development, and next steps.
  • Track performance against key activity and pipeline metrics, including outreach volume, meetings booked, and opportunities influenced.

We're Excited if this is You!

Experience and Qualifications of the Role:

  • 2-4 years of experience in sales, business development, recruiting, account management, or a related customer-facing role.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, conduct research, and engage prospects through phone, email, and LinkedIn.
  • Interest or experience in outbound prospecting, pipeline generation, and business development.
  • Experience in B2B, partnerships, or regulated industries such as utilities or municipalities is a plus, but utility or government experience is not required.
  • Familiarity with CRM systems and prospecting tools is preferred.
  • A resilient, coachable mindset and a desire to grow into a business development or sales leadership role.

Computer Skills Needed to Perform the Job:

  • Comfort using CRM systems such as Salesforce, or the ability to learn new systems quickly.
  • Confidence using LinkedIn and other online tools for research and prospecting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or Google Workspace.
  • Ability to manage email, scheduling, and outreach workflows effectively.
  • Exposure to or interest in learning sales tools such as LinkedIn Sales Navigator, ZoomInfo, Outreach, or similar platforms.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Recent graduates with relevant internships or exposure to sales, business development, or customer-facing roles are encouraged to apply.
