AltaGas - Senior Analyst, Business Development

Our Midstream Business Development team is seeking a commercially minded Senior Business Development Analyst to join the team, reporting to a Senior Director of Business Development. You will be joining a small and energetic team focused on originating and developing creative infrastructure solutions for our customers that integrate with our midstream value chain, including our industry leading LPG export business. We need an able contributor with financial competency and broad industry knowledge to be able to support our development initiatives as they grow from ideas to in-service.

You will:

  • Collaborating with an interdisciplinary team of commercial managers, engineers, marketers and logisticians to identify, develop and execute on AltaGas' next wave of midstream growth opportunities.
  • Build a strong knowledge of the AltaGas midstream assets.
  • Work with the team to build and maintain presentation materials for internal and external communications.
  • Establish processes within the Business Development team to streamline reporting and deliverables, helping to drive efficiency within the team.
  • Conduct industry research and gather, analyze, and present data and information related to industry trends and customer and competitor activity in the midstream space, as well as regulations and policy shifts that will drive midstream business opportunities. The information will be gathered through geoSCOUT, investor presentations, press releases, etc.
  • Monitor government funding opportunities and effectively communicate and incorporate these opportunities into our project models.
  • Demonstrate strong financial and operational acumen.
  • Build collaborative relationships and work with key internal and external stakeholders to advance opportunities from initial prospecting to project sanctioning, in accordance with ALA processes.
  • Support aspects of opportunity advancement, including initial screening, economic evaluations, marketing, and customer and partner negotiations, while interacting with and leading internal stakeholder groups including Commercial, Stakeholder and Indigenous Relations, Engineering, Operations, Legal, and Finance through the business development process from initial prospecting through to project implementation.

You have:

  • Relevant university degree in either Business/Commerce, Economics, Finance, Engineering, Geology, or Geophysics;
  • 2-7 years of relevant experience in the Western Canadian upstream, midstream, or energy marketing industry;
  • Advanced skills in: Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint;
  • Demonstrated capability in geoSCOUT, including mapping and well production analysis tools;
  • Strong attention to detail, organization skills, and proven ability to prioritize, multi-task, and meet critical deadlines;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Superior oral, written and interpersonal communication skills;
  • Motivated individual able to contribute both individually and as a team player with multiple priorities and tasks in a fast-paced environment.
