Job description
Klipsch Senior Care · Home Instead · Kokomo, IN
Full-time · Some evenings & weekends
Do you love building relationships in your community?
We’ve stabilized our Kokomo office and started growing again. Now it needs dedicated focus to see the growth we’re after—and we’re looking for someone ready to roll up their sleeves and build our referral network. As our Business Development Manager, you’re the face of Home Instead in the community—the person who connects hospitals, physicians, social workers, and families to in-home care that helps seniors stay right where they want to be. If you love meeting people, earning trust, and turning relationships into real results, keep reading.
What this role is really about
Every day, seniors in the Kokomo area need a way to stay safely in their own homes—and the people who guide those decisions (discharge planners, physicians, social workers, senior living staff) need someone they trust to send families to. That someone is you. You’ll build the referral relationships that bring seniors to our care, one genuine connection at a time.
This is a growth role with a real number behind it. You own the referral and revenue targets for your territory, and you’ll build the pipeline that hits them—researching new referral sources, nurturing the ones we have, and getting out to meet people face to face. You’ll handle the referrals those relationships generate; our Care Advisor team fields general incoming service inquiries, with the office as backup, so you can stay focused on the community relationships only you can build. You’ll work closely with your General Manager, but those relationships are yours to own.
The office is stable and growing again, but the referral pipeline still has a lot of room to run—and that’s the opportunity. You won’t inherit a full book of business; you’ll build it, one relationship at a time. That’s the challenge and the appeal: the chance to put your stamp on a market and watch seniors get the help they need because of relationships you built.
Build and grow the referral network
- Research, develop, and nurture relationships with referral providers—hospitals, physicians, home health agencies, assisted living, nursing homes, senior centers, hospice, and rehab centers
- Prospect new sources through face-to-face visits, calls, email, and consistent follow-up, and build a database of qualified leads
- Show up reliably and add value so referral partners think of us first
Sell consultatively
- Diagnose referral source and client needs, and recommend the right Home Instead services—and other community resources when that’s what truly serves the family
- Present our services one-on-one and in group settings; plan and deliver formal presentations to referral providers
- Follow up on and convert the referral-generated leads your relationships produce, and conduct care consultations as needed, following the consultative sales process
Own your number and your records
- Achieve your referral and inquiry-generation targets for your territory, growing overall market share
- Develop weekly and monthly sales and marketing plans together with office leadership
- Keep accurate, disciplined records of calls, presentations, and follow-ups in our CRM
- Handle the marketing, social media, and documentation that keep your territory visible and your pipeline accurate—a small slice of the week, but essential and never skipped
Support care and the brand
- Conduct initial client and Care Professional introductions, and quality assurance visits, as needed
- Contribute to educational programs and community PR efforts
- Uphold our policies, ethics, and core values in every interaction
We care about how you work and who you are more than a specific resume. Here’s what matters:
- You love building relationships. You genuinely enjoy meeting people and earning trust—and you play the long game, because referral relationships are built over months, not days.
- You’re persistent. You can hear no, keep showing up with something useful, and know the difference between persistence and being a pest.
- You do the legwork. This job is built on showing up—face-to-face visits, follow-ups, events. You’re willing to roll up your sleeves and put in the reps, week after week.
- You’re consultative, not pushy. You listen first, understand what someone actually needs, and recommend what’s right—even when it isn’t the biggest sale.
- You’re self-starting and organized. You manage your own territory, calendar, and pipeline without needing someone to tell you what to do next.
- You’re goal-driven. A target energizes you, and you’re comfortable being measured and reporting your progress.
- You lead with integrity. You’re honest with referral partners and families, because in this work trust is the whole business.
A college degree or equivalent work experience is required, and prior sales, business development, or healthcare experience will help you ramp faster. But what really predicts success here is relationship-building, drive, and follow-through. If you’ve built something out of relationships before—in any field—tell us about it.
Tech you’ll useYou’ll work in a CRM (Salesforce or similar), Microsoft Word and Excel, and Home Instead’s internal systems. This role is built to be in the field: expect roughly 90% of your time out in the community and about 10% on marketing and computer work like social media and documentation. That 10% is a small slice, but it’s essential and it has to get done. A valid driver’s license and the ability to travel throughout your territory are required, along with some evenings and weekends for events and community activities.
What we offer- The chance to build real momentum—grow a referral network in a market with plenty of room to run
- A mission that matters—every relationship you build connects a senior to care that lets them live at home
- A supportive team and a General Manager invested in your success
- Growth and advancement for people who perform
“The best business developers in this field aren’t the slickest salespeople—they’re the ones who genuinely care, show up consistently, and become someone the community trusts. If that’s you, and you’re ready to roll up your sleeves and help this office grow, I’d love to meet you.”
How to applySubmit your resume online—and tell us about a relationship you built that turned into something real. We read every application.
- Background requirements: Criminal background check, MVR check & drug screen
- Schedule: Full-time, with some evenings & weekends as needed
- Travel: Valid driver’s license required; local territory travel
