Business Development Manager- Mechanical Contracting
The Organization
Our client is a growing, employee-owned (ESOP) mechanical Our client that delivers high-quality commercial HVAC, plumbing, piping, and service solutions across the Southeast. This organization is known for its strong culture, technical expertise, and commitment to long-term client relationships.
The Role
They are seeking a Business Development Manager to drive strategic growth and expand market presence across commercial, industrial, and institutional sectors. This is a high-impact, revenue-generating role focused on building relationships, securing new opportunities, and contributing to long-term business success.
Core Responsibilities
  • Business Development: Develop and execute strategic business development plans
  • Opportunity Pursuit: Identify and pursue new opportunities with general contractors, developers, owners, and facility managers
  • Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers
  • Revenue Growth: Drive revenue growth and achieve sales targets
  • Client Engagement: Lead client meetings, presentations, and pursuit strategies
  • Representation: Represent the organization at networking events, trade shows, and industry associations
  • Brand Visibility: Enhance brand visibility across target markets
  • Collaboration: Partner with estimating and preconstruction teams on proposals and budgets
  • Contract Support: Support contract negotiations and project acquisition efforts
  • Handoff Coordination: Ensure smooth handoff to operations teams
  • Client Expectations: Collaborate to exceed client expectations
  • Opportunity Tracking: Track and manage opportunities through CRM tools
  • Forecasting: Maintain accurate forecasts and activity reports
  • Goal Achievement: Consistently meet or exceed revenue and margin goals
Candidate Profile
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in business development, sales, or account management within mechanical contracting (HVAC, plumbing, piping), or commercial construction / MEP industry
  • Track Record: Proven track record of generating revenue and closing deals
  • Construction Knowledge: Strong understanding of the construction lifecycle and delivery methods
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills
Requirements
  • Relationships: Established relationships within commercial and/or industrial markets
  • Project Experience: Experience with design-build, negotiated, and plan/spec projects
  • Process Familiarity: Familiarity with estimating, preconstruction, or project management processes
  • CRM Experience: Experience with CRM tools (Salesforce, HubSpot, or similar)
