General Summary:

The Business Development Manager will be a strategic leader in growing Hooper's Mechanical Division, identifying opportunities in Milwaukee, Wausau, Madison, and surrounding markets to drive growth. This role focuses on identifying high-value opportunities, building strategic partnerships, and positioning the company for long-term expansion across construction markets. This role will collaborate closely with Operations, Estimating, the Service team and Corporate Communications, to position Hooper as a trusted partner for general contractors and end users generating new clients as well as strengthening relationships with current clients
Key Responsibilities:
Market Development
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities with general contractors and end users.
  • Research upcoming projects, market trends, and competitor activity.

Strategic Planning
  • Develop and execute a 3-5-year regional business development and market expansion plan aligned with company goals.
  • Intentionally lead business development initiatives with collaboration and involvement with the executive team as well as department leadership.
  • Provide input on proposal development and oversee the process for major opportunities as identified by the Division Leadership team.

Relationship Management
  • Maintain and strengthen relationships with existing clients. Position the company for repeat business and preferred contractor status.
  • Develop a CRM tool for tracking client relationships and contact information.
  • Establish Guidelines for VIP Client retention and Stewardship and actively oversee and manage client retention strategies including offering guidance and feedback to staff on client engagement best practices.
  • Coordinate Client Surveys and customer feedback and share internally with project teams and leadership.
  • Represent Hooper at industry events, networking functions, and community activities. Including staffing trade shows with strategically selected PM's and Managers.

Collaboration
  • Work with estimating and operations teams to ensure client expectations are met.
  • Coordinate with marketing for promotional materials and campaigns.

Reporting
  • Track and report on business development activities, pipeline, and results.

Requirements
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in business, Marketing, Construction Management, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in business development.
  • Relevant experience in construction or mechanical contracting (preferred).
  • Strong network within general contracting and construction industry.
  • Exceptional communication skills and ability to inspire and guide others.
  • Proven track record of securing new business and/or expanding market presence in a competitive industry.
  • Strong understanding of sales strategy, client acquisition, and relationship management.
  • Experience leading high-value pursuits, including RFP responses, presentations, and contract negotiations.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute long-term business development plans aligned with organizational goals.
  • Skilled in building and maintaining executive-level relationships with clients, partners, and industry stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with CRM systems and business intelligence tools to track leads, opportunities, and performance metrics.
  • Experience representing the company at industry events, conferences, and community engagements.
  • Ability to travel within Wisconsin.

Description of Physical Working Environment:
  • Primarily office-based, with occasional travel to field locations or corporate meetings.
  • May require lifting of supply boxes or marketing materials up to 30 lbs.
