Pennoni is seeking a Business Development Manager with deep AEC industry experience, responsible for identifying, developing, and securing new business opportunities that align with the company's civil engineering capabilities and strategic growth objectives. This role bridges technical expertise and commercial strategy, working closely with engineering, operations, and executive teams to drive revenue growth, expand market presence, and build long-term client relationships.
Key Responsibilities
• Identify, pursue, and qualify new business opportunities specifically within the VA and NC engineering markets and sectors.
• Develop and maintain a strong sales pipeline through prospecting, networking, and relationship management.
• Lead pursuit strategies, involved in go/no-go decisions, and client engagement.
• Build and sustain long-term relationships with clients, partners, and industry stakeholders.
• Understand client needs and align engineering solutions to meet business and technical objectives.
• Monitor client satisfaction and identify opportunities for repeat or expanded work.
• Support market analysis, competitive intelligence, and strategic planning initiatives.
• Stay informed of industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes.
• Attend industry events, conferences, and trade shows to network with potential clients and partners. Represent the company professionally and contribute to its positive image in the industry.
• Identify and engage with potential clients, including government agencies, private firms, and contractors. Position:
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients to understand their needs and provide tailored solutions.
Preferred Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in engineering, Business, or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in business development, sales, or client-facing roles within an engineering, technical, or construction-related environment.
• Strong understanding of civil engineering services, project delivery models, and technical solutions.
• Proven track record of developing new business and meeting or exceeding revenue targets.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
• Ability to work cross-functionally with technical and non-technical teams.
• Experience with public and/or private sector clients.
• Familiarity with Deltek Vantagepoint system and proposal management tools.
• Established industry network within the VA and NC markets.
