Job description

Business Information Developer Consultant

Location: This role requires associates to be in-office 1 - 2 days per week, fostering collaboration and connectivity, while providing flexibility to support productivity and work-life balance. This approach combines structured office engagement with the autonomy of virtual work, promoting a dynamic and adaptable workplace.Ideal candidates will be able to report to our Pulse Point location in Norfolk, VA. Alternate locations may be considered if candidates reside within a commuting distance from an office.

The Business Information Developer Consultant is responsible for developing and executing more complex data mining analyses.

How you will make an impact:

  • Determines how decision support systems will provide the data required to make effective business decisions.

  • Performs modeling of information sources and flows.

  • Coordinates the activities of a project team and monitors project schedules and costs for own projects.

  • Develops strategic report applications from the Data Warehouse.

  • Establishes and maintains excellent knowledge of data warehouse database design, data definitions, system capabilities, programming languages, and data integrity issues.

  • Develops and supports complex data warehouse-related applications for business areas requiring design and implementation of database tables.

  • Develops and executes complex data mining and analytical solutions to support business needs.

  • Creates, maintains, and optimizes SQL queries, stored procedures, and data extraction processes.

  • Develops strategic and operational reports using SSRS.

  • Builds interactive dashboards and visualizations using Tableau and Power BI.

  • Supports reporting and analytics initiatives using Google Looker or similar BI tools.

  • Analyzes and models information sources, data flows, and reporting requirements.

  • Develops and supports data warehouse-related applications, including database table design and implementation.

  • Maintains strong knowledge of data warehouse design, data definitions, system capabilities, and data integrity standards.

  • Participates in project planning activities and helps monitor schedules and deliverables for assigned projects.

  • Provides end-user training and ongoing support for developed applications and reports.

  • Collaborates with business and technical teams to deliver scalable reporting and analytics solutions.

  • Spends the majority of time designing, developing, testing, and supporting reporting and data solutions.

Minimum Requirements:

Requires a BS/BA degree and a minimum of 4 years related experience; or any combination of education and experience which would provide an equivalent background.

Preferred Skills, Capabilities and Experiences:

  • PC, spreadsheet, and database skills highly preferred.

  • Experience in standard Business Information tools and programming/query languages highly preferred.

  • Minimum of 4 years of related experience in data warehouse development, reporting, or business intelligence highly preferred .

  • Strong experience with: SQL development and complex query writing, SSIS or other ETL/data integration tools, SRS report development, and Tableau dashboard creation highly preferred.

  • Understanding of relational databases, data warehouse concepts, and data modeling techniques highly preferred.

  • Experience with standard business intelligence and reporting tools highly preferred.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills preferred.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment preferred.
