Job Summary
The Turner College of Business is calling for applications to fill two positions for a Graduate Lab Assistant (GLA) also known as Peer Academic Leader.
Responsibilities
The person in this position will be responsible for tutoring undergraduate business students. This lab supports students enrolled in the following courses:
  • ACCT 2101 Principles of Accounting I
  • ACCT 2102 Principles of Accounting II
  • BUSA 2100 Introduction to Information Systems in Business
  • BUSA 3115 Business Analytics I
  • ECON 2105 Principles of Macroeconomics
  • ECON 2106 Principles of Microeconomics
  • FINC 3105 Principles of Finance
  • FINC 3115 Corporate Financial Analysis
  • MISM 3115 Principles of Information Systems Management

GLAs are expected to assist students in developing a strong understanding of quantitative business subjects, including accounting, economics, finance, and business analytics. In addition to providing academic support, tutors play a key role in encouraging and guiding students throughout their learning process. Tutoring services are both in-person and online through the Turner College of Business and Technology Tutoring Lab in SCCT 450.
Required Qualifications
Candidate must be a graduate student at the Turner College of Business and Technology. Must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA. Qualified candidates should have successfully completed, with a grade of A or B, key foundational courses in accounting (financial and managerial), economics (macro and micro), corporate finance, and business analytics/statistics. Candidates must also demonstrate a strong proficiency in using Excel for business-related calculations and data analysis, including the use of functions such as PivotTables. Should be organized and have strong time management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • MBA or MSOL graduate students.
  • If a graduate student is pursuing a non-business graduate degree their undergraduate degree must be a business degree- such as Accounting, Finance, Management, Marketing, and General Business¿who have successfully completed both introductory and select upper-level courses in accounting, business analytics, economics, and finance, or who are minoring in these quantitative business disciplines.
  • Mathematics majors who have successfully completed relevant business coursework in these areas

Proposed Salary
There is a stipend of $6,000 per semester, which will be divided and paid monthly over the course of five months. The position also pays for tuition,, not including fees. This position works for 19 hours per week.
