Position Title: Business Analyst

Organizational Relationships: Reports to VP of Business Solutions

General Function:

The Business Analyst is a member of the Business Solutions Team within IT and serves as the solution architect for assigned enterprise initiatives. This role acts as the primary conduit for business requirements between Project Owners, business stakeholders, and technical delivery teams, ensuring solutions align with organizational goals, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.

The Business Analyst partners closely with Project Managers to lead projects through established PMO processes, supporting timely and successful delivery. This role is responsible for analyzing business processes and operations, identifying opportunities for efficiency and improvement, and translating business needs into clear, actionable requirements that guide system enhancements and application implementations.

Working collaboratively with Systems Analysts and other technical teams, the Business Analyst ensures that solutions improve operational efficiency, enhance member experience, and support compliance with credit union policies and applicable regulations.

Position Functions:

Business Analysis & Process Improvement

  • Analyze and document current-state business processes, workflows, and operational practices.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of existing systems and identify gaps, inefficiencies, and risks.
  • Define and document business initiatives, including scope, objectives, and expected outcomes.
  • Identify opportunities for process optimization, automation, and improved system utilization.
  • Develop future-state process designs aligned with business and technology strategies.

Requirements Management & Solution Design

  • Elicit, analyze, and document business and functional requirements using established methodologies.
  • Translate business needs into detailed requirements, use cases, process flows, and user stories.
  • Act as the primary liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams.
  • Ensure requirements align with enterprise architecture, compliance standards, and strategic objectives.

Application & Systems Collaboration

  • Maintain a strong understanding of credit union core and ancillary applications, including their capabilities, integrations, and interdependencies.
  • Partner closely with Systems Analysts to design, enhance, and implement system solutions.
  • Ensure solutions are technically feasible, scalable, and aligned with application architecture.
  • Support evaluation, selection, and implementation of new technologies and vendors.

Project Delivery Support

  • Collaborate with Project Managers to support projects through the full lifecycle (initiation through implementation).
  • Participate in planning, scoping, and prioritizing enterprise initiatives.
  • Facilitate workshops, interviews, and working sessions with stakeholders.
  • Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT), training, and change management activities.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation including:
    • Business requirements
    • Process maps
    • System interactions and dependencies
    • Initiative definitions and project artifacts

Stakeholder Engagement & Continuous Improvement

  • Build strong relationships across business units and technical teams.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Stay informed on credit union industry trends, fintech solutions, and best practices.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts across systems, processes, and service delivery.

Compliance & Employment Requirements

  • Complete mandatory annual BSA training that includes Red Flag, Identity Theft, OFAC, CTR and SAR reporting and thresholds, as well as the safe keeping of member information, and passes any applicable tests.
  • Follow all Whitefish Credit Union, Montana and Federal information privacy guidelines.
  • Adhere to all Whitefish Credit Union policies and procedures.
  • Protect Member and Whitefish Credit Union confidential information.


Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, MIS, operations management or a related field, or 5+ years of relevant experience in related field.
  • Proficiency in implementing new technical solutions, root cause analysis, and change management.
  • Previous credit union/financial services experience highly preferred.
  • Current or willingness to obtain PMI-PBA, PMI-CAPM, CCBA or CBAP certification within 12 months.
  • 3-5+ years of experience in US banking/financial operations, technical analysis, implementing new technical solutions, credit union or banking software and leading projects to success.
  • Experience with Symitar, Synergy, MeridianLink, Alkami and OpCon preferred.
