Connecticut Orthopaedics is a full-service practice offering all orthopaedic sub-specialties as well as urgent care, imaging/MRI, rehab/sports therapy, and surgical centers.

The Connecticut Orthopaedics (CO) 1 year Administrative Fellow – Healthcare Management provides an exceptional opportunity for professional development in healthcare management and operations. The Administrative Fellow will lead, or contribute to, high-profile projects and organizational initiatives across the company, through partnering with CO senior leadership. The Fellow will gain hands-on experience in projects that include quality, operations, performance excellence, planning, business development, marketing, finance, and HR. The Fellow will receive coaching and mentoring from senior leaders while making meaningful contributions to CO’s key objectives.

The ideal candidate will be completing their Masters degree in Spring 2027 with a degree in Business Administration, Health Services, Health Sciences or Healthcare Administration.

Upon completion of the 1-year fellowship, the Fellow will have experience in developing and applying innovative approaches to providing high quality, patient centered care within an integrated, team-based system. The intent of the program is to transition the Administrative Fellow into a regular position within CO. Opportunities depend upon several factors including available positions and the career interests of the fellow.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Provide project management leadership or support to strategic initiatives, such as:
    • Consolidation of operational services
    • Enhancing access to care by reducing barriers to entry and optimizing service delivery systems
    • Optimizing the performance and profitability of all service lines
    • Reducing vendor costs and strengthening inventory management and purchasing practices
    • Evaluating and redesigning care team roles
    • Referral Management Optimization
    • Workers Compensation Program Growth Urgent Care Operational Stabilization and Expansion
  • Develop and provide training to assist with the implementation of new initiatives
  • Design and develop organizational reports and dashboards to track KPIs
  • Assist in organizational policy development
  • Attend Weekly Operations Team Meeting and Monthly Management Leadership Meetings
  • Provide business analysis support to department leaders

Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the healthcare industry
  • Must possess proficient computer skills, especially in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint, experience with Microsoft Visio is preferred
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills
  • Must display professionalism and understand discretion
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with administrative leadership, physicians, CO staff and external partners
  • Knowledge of Epic electronic medical record is preferred

Experience/Educational requirements:

  • Experience in project management and use of project management tools
  • Masters degree in healthcare administration or related field; training at a CAHME (Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education) accredited program is preferred
  • Full time internship or academic practicum experience is preferred
  • Basic Computer skills: Office 365, Excel, email

Location & Schedule

  • Hamden, CT. This is an on-site position.
  • 1 year temporary position from Jun 1, 2027 through May 31, 2028
  • Monday – Friday
