Bus Mechanic
Location: Madison, WI
Shift: 1st shift (Monday - Friday)
Hours: 5 am - 5 pm; 8 hour shift within these hours
Pay: 26-32 per hour

Are you a skilled and motivated mechanic passionate about maintaining and repairing buses used in special education? We're seeking dedicated Bus Mechanics to ensure our fleet of short buses and Ford Vans remains safe, reliable, and ready for daily routes. This is more than a job-it's an opportunity to make a positive impact in the community while working in a dynamic and supportive environment.
Required Skills:
  • 2+ years of mechanic experience or recent trade school graduate
  • Valid driver's license (willingness to obtain CDL while employed; training and pay provided for CDL)
  • Toolbox and basic hand tools
  • Ability to perform standard preventive maintenance (fluid changes, filter replacements, greasing)
  • Capable of conducting basic inspections and repairs
  • Strong work ethic, positive attitude, and commitment to safety and attendance
  • Ability to assist senior mechanics and perform repairs under supervision
  • Prior experience with heavy equipment is a plus

Nice to Have Skills:
  • Experience working on heavy equipment or fleet vehicles
  • ASE certifications (additional pay for each certification obtained or held)
  • Willingness to learn new skills and grow within the organization

Preferred Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or trade school certification
  • Two years of relevant mechanic experience or recent graduation from a technical program

Other Requirements:
  • Must be at least 21 years old or close to turning 21
  • Ability to work on 1st shift (Monday - Friday, 5 am - 5 pm)
  • Reliable attendance and adherence to all safety protocols
  • Willingness to go through background checks, DMV, and employment licensing process
