Job description

This position plays a vital role in delivering accurate, creating estimates in a self-directed, Sales-facing capacity. Youโ€™ll work closely with internal technical teams, Sales, and customers to model, scope, and quote building structures and installation.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Possess working knowledge of Metal Building Software (MBS) or similar design metal building program
  • Interpret QSFโ€™s, architectural/structural drawings, and specifications to model and estimate fabric cladded metal buildings and install costs
  • Collaborate with sales, engineering, customers, and vendors to define and deliver project scopes
  • Provide detailed estimates to our customers and the Sales team in a timely manner, and be able to communicate scheduling changes if needed
  • Review and apply relevant building codes and load requirements
  • Designs steel framed fabric structures in accordance with verbal explanations, sketches, customer drawings, specifications, written descriptions/explanations and standard engineering practices
  • Able to identify project risks and/or special requirements
  • Communicate clearly on exclusions, qualifications, and contractual terms
  • Create preliminary scope drawings using MBS for internal and external use
  • Ability to communicate MBS knowledge with co-workers
  • Maintain detailed and organized records of bid documents, correspondence, and other project specific information
  • Reviews preliminary drawings for completeness and accuracy
  • Performs Peer Reviews

ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • AutoCAD experience preferred but not required
  • 3 + years of experience with Metal Building Software-MBS preferred
  • Minimum 2-year post-secondary education in drafting, construction management or related fields, experience may be substituted for schooling
  • Knowledge of fabrication and installation of structures to have a good understanding of customer needs and structure capabilities
  • Ability to read, interpret and understand architectural drawing and specifications and provide estimates
  • Strong mathematical skills
  • Be proficient in business software applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
  • Exceptional attention to detail with the understanding of metal building design and component requirements
  • Work in a team environment with sales team, engineers, designers and drafters on projects
  • Ability to evaluate alternatives and resolve technical issues
  • Participating in project meetings and conference calls as required
  • Strong communication skills; both verbal and written
  • Manage multiple projects with the ability to meet deadlines and respond well to last minute and time sensitive projects
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment with a positive attitude and continual desire for learning
  • Ability to quickly evaluate data and make decisions independently
  • Exhibits strong judgement and reasoning skills
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor and can communicate workload
