Job description

Role Summary:

The Commercial Truss Salesperson prioritizes cultivating and sustaining sales relationships, specifically targeting direct sales to general contractors and B2B customers. They spearhead new business ventures in their defined markets across the Southeastern United States, identifying potential clients and facilitating direct sales and channel distribution between our client and their existing accounts.

Scope of the Position:

The representative will collaborate with designers, architects, construction management personnel, and other B2B client organization employees to manage the sales process from concept to completion. They will also provide technical expertise regarding our products and services promptly and effectively.

Responsibilities:

Key responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Collaborating with various levels of management within client organizations, such as project managers, estimators, and field personnel, to deliver products and services tailored to their needs.
  • Working with architects and engineers to understand their requirements and proposing our products and services as solutions.
  • Identifying and qualifying prospective opportunities based on building type, customer reputation, plan quality, engineering specifications, credit ratings, and project needs.
  • Analyzing customer plans and blueprints to estimate material quantities and costs, and providing this information to the estimating department for pricing.
  • Creating and presenting proposals to customers, addressing any inquiries related to proposals, and ensuring their acceptance, then coordinating with Engineering and Design for complete layout and production.
  • Providing training on product and service usage to client organization employees.
  • Conducting approximately 20 hours per week of customer calls, including site visits as necessary.
  • Developing and maintaining customer accounts, managing approximately $6+ Million in annual sales.

Position Qualifications:

  • Exceptional organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • High proficiency with MS Office Suite, particularly Excel, and functional systems.
  • Broad understanding of standard business practices and procedures.
  • Experience with Bistrack is a plus but not required.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of Business-to-Business sales experience.
  • 5 years or more experience in building material sales or a related construction field.

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent sitting and standing.
  • In addition to these responsibilities, you will be expected to follow any other job-related instructions and perform other duties as requested by management.
