Job Description

The Systems Engineer will be part of the North American team responsible for Engine Management Systems (EMS) within the two-wheeler and powersports segment. This role focuses on defining stakeholder needs and translating them into clear system requirements early in the product development lifecycle. The engineer will support requirements management, system design synthesis, integration, and validation activities while ensuring alignment across cross-functional engineering disciplines. Acting as a key interface between customer engineering teams and Bosch development organizations, the Systems Engineer will drive structured development processes from concept through production and operational support, with primary responsibility for managing and maintaining technical requirements.
Responsibilities: 

  • Understand customer expectations and business needs to develop effective system-level solutions.
  • Derive and manage system requirements from stakeholder requirements for use by multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Conduct System Requirement Reviews to ensure completeness, consistency, and traceability.
  • Support System Architecture design activities, particularly the alignment between architecture and system requirements.
  • Make requirement-related decisions across system, software, and hardware domains within the project scope.
  • Contribute to item release activities related to assigned system requirements.
  • Escalate technical decisions and issues beyond the assigned scope to the project team when necessary.
  • Serve as the primary customer contact for technical and application-related discussions when a Calibration Manager is not assigned.
  • Utilize System Architecture principles to develop and maintain Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) system models.
  • Lead and own System Engineering activities throughout the entire project lifecycle, from acquisition through customer delivery.
  • Drive technical discussions with Project Management and cross-functional engineering teams, including hardware, software, calibration, and testing teams.
  • Perform system-level testing activities, including creation, execution, and validation of vehicle-based system tests.
  • Support and contribute to ASPICE-compliant development processes and project execution.
  • Develop and maintain technical system documentation and engineering artifacts.
  • Analyze issues identified by customers and internal testing teams and drive resolution activities.
  • Create and maintain system requirement specifications for functional enhancements and changes.
  • Coordinate EMS customer requirements and implementation activities with other Bosch systems and teams on shared vehicle platforms, including ABS, MSC, and related domains.
  • Coordinate validation of functional changes with software, hardware, calibration, and cross-functional Bosch teams, as well as customer engineering groups.
  • Lead customer discussions related to EMS technology strategy, innovation, and advanced system capabilities.
  • Coordinate and participate in customer discussions involving functional safety, legal compliance, and cybersecurity.

Travel Requirement: 25% - 50% travel will be required for this position.

Qualifications
  • B.S. or M.S. in Engineering
  • Must have 5+ years technical experience with engine management systems for mobility systems
  • Must have Motorcycle endorsement.
  • Must have knowledge of gaining Requirements management/engineering
  • Must have knowledge of Requirement Management Tool
  • Experience with motorcycles and off-road recreational vehicles.
  • Basic Project Management knowledge
  • Basic system architecture, software, and testing knowledge
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong customer interface and organizational skills.
  • Strong understanding of engines and powertrains.
  • Experience with requirements management tools such as IBM Rational DOORS.
  • Experience with engine and/or chassis dynamometer testing.
  • Prefer experience with Bosch Powertrain Solutions software development process and tools.
  • Prefer experience with modern EMS calibration tools such as ETAS INCA, Matlab/Simulink, Vektor CANalyzer.
