Position Overview:
The Building Automation Technician commissions new building automation systems, performs preventive maintenance, and responds to service calls. This role diagnoses and resolves technical issues to ensure reliable system performance and customer satisfaction. The technician works with internal teams and customers to support system start-up, integration, troubleshooting, and training. On-the-job training is provided to support technical skill growth and career development.

Key Responsibilities
The Building Automation Technician supports the installation, start-up, commissioning, integration, and maintenance of building automation systems with a focus on equipment-level operation. This role assists with testing sequences of operation, performing startup and functional checks on HVAC equipment, validating alarms and safeties, and tuning control loops and setpoints. The technician works closely with TAB contractors and mechanical teams to resolve equipment-specific control issues.
The technician also provides onsite training, assists with troubleshooting, and maintains accurate records of installations, service calls, maintenance, and project activities within company databases while maintaining strong knowledge of building automation systems (BAS) and HVAC controls. This role communicates technology capabilities to technical and business users, identifies customer needs and sales opportunities to support growth, and resolves customer issues in alignment with company goals and values.
Qualifications
  • 3-6 years BAS or HVAC controls experience
  • Journeyman HVAC Technician or equivalent experience
  • Familiarity with BAS programming environments
  • Ability to read architectural, mechanical, and electrical blueprints
  • Understanding of basic electrical systems and network communications (TCP/IP, Ethernet, VPN)
  • Valid driver's license with clean driving record and ability to obtain a DOT physical
  • Ability to travel approximately 25 percent
  • OSHA 10 certification preferred
