Description:

The Dining Host will meet and exceed guest expectations by providing efficient and courteous residence guests, patrons and visitors in accordance with and deliverance of CORE Quality Experiences.

The Dining Host contributes to the operational part of the overall The Dining Room at Birdwood Mansion Dining, Catering and Banquet Operation. He/She is responsible for the skillful completion and consistency of proper food and beverage service according to Birdwood Mansion quality and service standards. The Host contributes to the household part in providing packing, pressing, and valet, door, bell service and porter services.


Major responsibilities

  • Dining Host will do everything to please all five senses of the guests. Attention to detail, personalized service, speed and efficiency will be the tools to achieve the performance expected from this position.
  • Introduce self and respond to requests in a friendly and courteous manner.
  • Be attentive to the needs of all guests in the function room and provide them with dependable, punctual and enthusiastic service.
  • Arrive on schedule following proper payroll and uniform procedures.
  • Gather and transport all supplies needed for the set-up of a function including, but not limited to silver, chinaware, linen, glass wares and condiments.
  • Set-up buffet tables according to mansion and function requirements as well as with creative flair.
  • Properly set all tables, side stands and back of the house areas for function room for a display or a buffet and the ability to service from a buffet line.
  • Prepare the proper mis-en-place for any kind of event: this includes folding napkin, filling salt/pepper shakers and lighting any type of candles.
  • Replenish beverages as necessary with guests for overall satisfaction.
  • Ensure all tables and chairs are set and the function room is clean and neat prior to all events.
  • Service property all functions included plates, buffet, silver served or VIP meals, coffee breaks, theme parties, weddings and receptions.
  • Ensure to have a clean, neat and organized work area.
  • Transport all liquor wine, beer, soda, juice, condiments, non-food items and glassware to the banquet function area.
  • Make drinks according to standard, pour sizes using proper standard stemware and garnishes.
  • Set-up and breakdown a bar or beverage station in a timely manner.
  • Ice down all wines for banquet functions.
  • Maintain a clean, neat and orderly bar throughout service.
  • Minimize breakage ? Set-up, service and breakdown any wine, beverage or coffee station.
  • Tally the consumption accurately and record figures where appropriate.
  • Conduct and attend pre-shifts to get the proper information concerning the function.
  • Recognize and address potential intoxicated, disruptive or undesirable guests.
  • Abide by State and Federal liquor regulations pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages to minors and intoxicated guests.
  • Report all suspicious persons or activities and hazardous or unsafe conditions to management.
  • Respond properly in any hotel emergency or safety situation. Also provide instructions and guidance and employee safety in fire or other emergency situations.
Requirements:

Mandatory

  • 1-year minimum food and beverage serving experience and high-volume banquet serving experience.
  • 1-year minimum bartending experience. ? Knowledge of wines, spirits and mixed drinks.
