Job Summary:
The Athletics Academic Coordinator position serves to support the academic and personal development of student-athletes as part of our Student-Athlete Enrichment program. This position reports to the Senior Associate Athletic Director/SWA, and will also work closely with the Associate Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Enrichment, campus advisors, and the Teaching and Learning Center. This role will assess the academic and holistic needs of our student-athletes and will coordinate specialized programs and services that allow students to develop as independent, self-reliant leaders and learners. Other services may include developing individual study plans and coaching on other aspects that may affect student retention and academic success. This position is part of the Department of Athletics and Recreation at Bucknell University, a member of the NCAA Division I (FCS in Football) and the Patriot League for 23 of 27 varsity sports. Candidates are required to have the ability to adhere to and
comply with NCAA, Patriot League, and University rules and regulations.
Job Duties:
Reporting Relationship:
• Reports to the Senior Associate Athletic Director/SWA
Work Setting/Schedule:
• On-campus
• Requires some night and weekend availability
• This a 43 week job, 40 hours per week
What You Will Do:
• Teaching, coaching, advising, and/or counseling students on executive functioning skills and strategies.
• Provides one-on-one academic coaching sessions and ensures ongoing support is available to all Bucknell University student- athletes. In collaboration with the Office of Accessibility Resources (OAR), provides specialized academic coaching for students registered with the OAR to provide specialized academic coaching for registered students. Utilizes a strengths-based, appreciative, collaborative, and co-active coaching pedagogy to provide students with academic plans that support their student success.
• Collaborates with campus partners and makes student referrals as necessary to the Teaching & Learning Center, Office of Accessibility Resources, Writing Center, Counseling & Student Development Center, Library & IT, deans, department chairs, faculty, student success coaches, etc. Serves as the Teaching & Learning Center liaison on the Academic Advising Committee, and participates in a weekly Community of Practice with Student Success Coaches and academic Support Specialists in the Colleges of Arts & Sciences, Management, and Engineering. Participates in ongoing professional development initiatives, as appropriate.
• Communicates with students on an ongoing basis to offer support, answer questions, and manage concerns; offering positive accountability, referrals, letters of recommendation, scheduling requests, etc. Communicates with the parents of students, as appropriate, to answer questions/concerns and make referrals as necessary. Manages relevant software systems, in service of excellence and efficiency in academic coaching.
• Assist in gathering data and preparing reports in all facets of academic support, assessing progress and making recommendations for improvement.
• Coordinates the distribution of travel letters.
• Works with the Associate Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Enrichment to support various student leadership development and academic support programming.

The offer rate will be based on a review of the candidate's credentials compared to the qualifications of the position, internal equity, and our overall compensation philosophy.
This role is not budgeted for visa sponsorship, all candidates must be authorized to work in the US without a need for current or future visa sponsorship.
