Job Description:
Technology Asset & Logistics Specialist
Office of Information Technology
The Technology Asset & Logistics Specialist plays a pivotal role in the logistical operations of the Network Technology organization. This involves collaborating with diverse teams within the organization to ensure seamless logistics across Network Services, Public Safety Technicians, Telecommunications, and Communications Teams.
Working closely with the Network Technology Team, the Technology Asset & Logistics Specialist contributes to the creation of detailed bills of materials for Facilities and Campus Operation projects, as well as annual network technology refresh initiatives. The specialist carefully tracks purchase orders and ensures all components are accurately recorded in the inventory database. They also oversee multiple warehouses, handling equipment, reconciling packing slips, and preparing assets for deployment through work orders. Throughout this process, they will allocate network components to fulfill work order requests, ensuring accurate documentation of component locations. This role will have the responsibility of monitoring inventory levels across all teams, and promptly identifying and replenishing components as required.
The Technology Asset & Logistics Specialist is also responsible for tracking the Network Technology operational yearly expenses. This includes reviewing maintenance support for all network components, working with various vendors to request quotes, and adjusting maintenance coverage where necessary.
Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • 1-2 years experience working in a technology field preferred
  • Demonstrated experience using spreadsheets for analysis, budgeting or related functions.
  • Experience managing external vendors
  • Familiarity with network protocols, routing concepts, and basic PC or microcomputer architecture preferred
  • Manage and prioritize assigned tickets using a trouble ticketing system
  • Effectively multitask and prioritize daily activities
  • Provide excellent customer service, demonstrating tact and sensitivity when interacting with a diverse user community.
  • Procurement Expertise: Understanding of enterprise procurement processes, including working with Value-Added Resellers (VAR's) and managing purchase orders
  • Strong written and oral communication skills required
  • Proficiency with computer software, including Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
  • Familiarity with network monitoring tools and concepts for tracking performance, generating reports or alerts.
  • Proficiency in using inventory management software or databases.
  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and the ability to meet deadlines
  • Excellent organizational skills and keen attention to details.
  • Ability to work both collaboratively and independently in an organized and productive manner.
