Job description

Steam Logistics was founded 8 years ago to tackle the most strategic challenge many companies face: how to align the supply chain so goods move efficiently, quickly and economically. We started as the international arm to Access America, a domestic brokerage that scaled to $500 million before being acquired by Coyote Logistics. Using some of the same playbook at Access, and a few tricks of our own, we’ve rethought the brokerage paradigm and are innovation leaders in our space, looking for the right people to join us as we scale. We are extraordinarily proud of the company we’ve built so far (not to mention humbled to be recognized as Best Places to Work in Chattanooga). Our people are Steam’s biggest competitive advantage, and we’ll continue investing in our people-first culture.

The Opportunity

Join a high-performing, tight-knit team in a fast growing logistics company working to make our accounts receivable more collectible, strategic and effective. This position is built for a self-starter that will take assist in collection tactics at Steam. As the Collections Specialist, you will be on the front lines daily with customers, understanding their pain points by resolving disputes quickly, knowing their payment schedules and have a full understanding of our full cash flow cycle. Bringing either a sales mentality or previous collection experience to the table, you’ll work alongside our Sales and Accounting teams to ensure timely collections of our receivables. Afraid to make a call asking for cash? This probably isn’t the job for you. This position is designed for someone that is persuasive, personable and highly motivated. This is a new position that is perfect for someone looking to start in a new department from the ground up. Logistics experience is a HUGE plus.

What will I be doing everyday?

You will be responsible for the full collection life cycle of your accounts, working alongside the Collections Manager to develop standard processes for the collections team.

  • You will be involved in customer setup and on boarding from day one - responsible for communicating and understanding the customers' and Steam's expectations.
  • You will have a pulse on each customer and account status as you will need to build relationships between Steam and our customer's accounting team.
  • Emails and collection calls are part of your daily process while documenting the progress on each account.
  • Problem customer? No sweat. You are a master problem solver and will coordinate between departments to find a solution.

Our Story

We are an equal opportunity employer that is committed to providing reasonable accommodations and will work with your needs. If you are a person with a disability and require assistance during the application process, please don’t hesitate to reach out!
